Objective:To explore the current situation of family stigma of children with autism by the way of qualitative research methods which is to understand the psychological dynamics of parents of children with autism in the face of the children’s growing problems,and further analyze the formation process of family stigma and influencing factors,and provide a theoretical reference for improving the family mental health of children with autism,thereby deepening the understanding of the problems faced by the families of children,and making suggestions for improving the stigma of family-related diseases.Finally hope to increase public attention to autism,reduce public misunderstandings about autism,and enable children with autism and their families to wait for more support,respect and understanding.Methods: Eight relatives of children with autism who were rehabilitated in an autism rehabilitation institution in Wuhu City from April 2020 to December 2020 were used as the research objects.Semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with the relatives of children with autism.In-depth interviews,a grounded theoretical research paradigm is used to carefully analyze the collected data,and the Nvivo11.0 application software is used to perform three-level coding of the interview data to establish a dynamic model of the occurrence and development of family stigma of children with autism.Results:1.Current status of stigma in families with autism: There is no statistical difference in family stigma in terms of gender,occupational status and educational background.2.The development of stigma in families with autism is a dynamic process.There are four different stages,namely: attention stage,confusion stage,relief stage and worry stage.In the later stage of the worrying stage,parents will gradually internalize their concerns about the child as a denial of themselves,forming a strong experience of collateral stigma and affecting their own social functions.3.Model of stigma associated with autism:(1)The formation of collateral stigma has to go through 4 stages;(2)In the later stage of the worrying stage,parents will gradually internalize their concerns about the child as a denial of themselves,forming a strong experience of collateral stigma,which will affect their own social functions;(3)The stage of joint stigma is not static.Some parents may skip the remission stage and reach the worry stage,or switch between the remission stage and the worry stage.Conclusion:1.The existence of stigma associated with autistic families is relatively common,but there are no statistical differences in gender,education,and professional status.2.The formation of collateral stigma is a dynamic process,and its development is mainly divided into four stages,which are concerned stage,confused stage,relief stage and worry stage.3.The reduction of the stigma of collateral disease depends on the improvement of the children’s parents’ self-cognition and the construction of a good support system.
