A Study Of Visual Fuction And Optical Quality On The Trifocal And Aspheric Diffractive Monofocal Intraocular Lenses Implanted In The Senile Cataract Patients With Intervention Of Traditional Chinese Medicine

ObjectiveTo evaluate and compare the visual acuity,defocus curve,stereoscopic vision,asthenopia and visual quality of life in whom implanted the ZEISS trifocal intraocular lens(AT LISA tri 839MP)or aspheric diffractive monofocal intraocular lenses(PAY-61PL).MethodsThis study is a non randomized prospective controlled study.59 suitable eyes who were accepted phacoemulsification(PHACO)with intraocular lens implantation(IOL)and whether taken the traditional Chinese medicine were divided into three groups:fifteen patients(16 eyes)were implanted trifocal intraocular lens tanking the medicine,nineteen patients(23 eyes)were implanted monofocal intraocular lens taking the medicine,thirteen patients(20 eyes)without the medicine.One day,one week,two weeks,one months after PHACO+IOL,the following parameters were evaluated:distant vision,intermediate and near vision,stereoscopic vision,asthenopia and visual quality of life.After that,all the data would be calculated to establish database and launch statistical analysis of variance.Results1.There was no statistical significance(P>0.017)in distant vision between the three groups at 1D,1W,2W and 4W after IOL.The intermediate and near vision of the trifocal intraocular lens group was significantly better than monofocal intraocular groups(P<0.017)at 1D,1W,2W and 1M after IOL.2.The defocus curve of trifocal intraocular lens groups showed a flat and multipeak curve,which indicated that the patients in this groups had a gratifying vision.3.Patients implanted trifocal intraocular lens had better stereoscopic vision than patients with monocular one(P<0.05).4.Depending on the questionnaire of the visual quality of life(VF-14),trifocal intraocular lens group is better at reading the small letters,read the newspapers,do meticulous activity,sign,play the entertainment(mahjong,poker)than those in another groups(P<0.017).There is no significant vary among three groups in the others long-distance activities(P>0.017).5.The degree of asthenopia decreased in 1D,1 W,2W and 4W after IOL.On the 1D after operation,there was a high degree of asthenopia in the monofocal intraocular lens group without traditional Chinese medicine,and the main symptom was eye discomfort(P<0.017).It is suggested that traditional Chinese medicine can relieve postoperative asthenopia to a certain extent.ConclusionThree groups of IOLs had greater distance visual acuity;however,trifocal intraocular lens group produced better intermediate and near vision and stereoscopic vision.Two types of lens implantation could improve the lquality of life of the patients,but the patients implanted trifocal intraocular lens beter at the near activity.Also,traditional Chinese medicine can relieve postoperative asthenopia to a certain extent.In conclusion,we could select the various intraocular lens and the various treatment according to different requirement of patients.
