Objective:To explore Professor Deng Xiaomin’s clinical experience in the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes(T2DM)from five aspects: prescription thinking, applicable population, dosage form selection, medication characteristics and clinical application,in order to provide theoretical basis for the clinical application of Wuwei Xiaoke prescription and provide reference for the prevention and treatment of Diabetes with traditional Chinese medicine. Methods: This paper is divided into two parts: literature research and experience analysis.Literature research mainly includes two parts: ancient literature research and modern literature research. In ancient literature research, the fifth edition of Chinese Medical Book was used as the main retrieval platform, using "five zang organs" and "xiaodan" as the key words to search, and the prescription thinking of the Wuwei Xiaoke prescription is summarized; In the modern literature collection,"Dictionary of Traditional Chinese Medicine" and CNKI were used as the retrieval platform, and each component of Wuwei Xiaoke Prescription was searched as the subject words respectively, summarize the flavor and meridian attribution, the main efficacy, pharmacological effects and clinical studies of each medicine. In the part of experience analysis and summary, the author selected the patients who returned to the clinic regularly with Wuwei Xiaoke Decoction alone in the treatment of T2 DM and had significant curative effect to conduct in-depth discussion.Combined with the analysis of medical cases, the author summarized the clinical experience of Professor Deng Xiaomin in the treatment of T2 DM from the aspects of the applicable population, dosage form selection, medication characteristics and clinical application of Wuwei Xiaoke Decoction. Results: Keyword search through the fifth edition of the Chinese medical,a total of 315 results, excluding two unrelated keywords search results and duplicate entries selected article 45 of the related results, which sums up the prescription thinking of Wuwei Xiaoke Decoction: "five zang-organs weak" is the key cause of diabetes,Professor Deng Xiaomin take the "five viscera" as the breakthrough point, use "the theory of Yin and Yang, five elements theory, the theory of five flavors reinforcing and reducing" as the main theoretical support, use the bias of the medicine to correct the bias of viscera’s Yin and Yang, combined with the five elements of interrelationship between growth and restriction, tonic the weak, regulating the Yin and Yang,to cure the diseases, achieve the goal of lower blood glucose.By summarizing and sorting out the literatures collected from the Dictionary of Traditional Chinese Medicine and CNKI,this paper summarizes the Yin and Yang attributes of Wuwei Xiaoke’s medicines: Yin is 6,Yang is 4,the whole prescription is mainly to nourish Yin and to support Yang. The ascending and descending attributes of medicines: ascending 3,descending 3 and leveling 4,which are lift balance; The proportion of five flavors: sweet 4,bitter 2,salty 2,spicy 1,sour 1,the whole recipe is mainly sweet; The meridian attribution:into The Liver Meridian 5,into The Heart Meridian 3,into The Spleen Meridian 6,into The Lung Meridian 7,into The Kidney Meridian 4,the medicines attribution to the five viscera, most of which are concurrent. From the perspective of modern medicine,it can be concluded that all the medicines in the prescription can effectively improve diabetes and its complications, and Wuwei Xiaoke Decoction has a definite clinical effect in the treatment of T2 DM,among which the combination of Qi and Yin deficiency has the best effect.Through the analysis of medical cases, the experience of Professor Deng Xiaomin in treating T2 DM with Wuwei Xiaoke Decoction is summarized as follows: Applicable population: The patients with Qi-yin deficiency type had the best curative effect, and often accompanying blood stasis.Selection of dosage form: At present, there are mainly decoction, granules and pills, and the selection criteria are mainly based on the patient’s own will, the new course of disease and the severity of the disease.Characteristics of medication :(1)be adept in using in pairs medication, perfect compatibility;(2)keep balance of Yin and Yang, rise and fall;(3)harmonic the five flavours, clear five zang;(4)with Worm Medicine, preventive treatment of disease.Clinical application rules :(1)identify the corporeity, treatment chosen according to the variability of an individualsuit measures to different persons;(2)Examination of the prescription to increase its effectiveness;(3)accurate positioning, reinforcing and reducing with the symptoms;(4)be awareness of the accompanied symptoms, cut the complications in time. Conclusion: Professor Deng Xiaomin believes that "the weakness of the five viscera organs" is the main cause of thirst,"Yin deficiency and dryness-heat" is the basic pathogenesis, and "blood stasis" throughout, should be prevented before the disease.Based on this,he created a prescription of Wuwei Xiaoke prescription, and established the treatment principle of "harmonizing the viscera, tonifying the five viscera, strengthening the positive and reducing the blood sugar".He paid attention to the relationship between the five viscera, the five flavors and the five elements in prescription medicine. He made full use of the theory of the five elements of interrelationship between growth and restriction and the five flavors reinforcing and reducing the organs, and tried to balance the dynamic balance of Yin and Yang with the bias of medicine to correct the bias of the viscera. In the application of clinical syndrome, according to the patient’s physique plus drug conditioning, according to its concurrent disease for accurate location of the viscera,if necessary, combined with the prescription to increase clinical efficacy, often with good results.
