cases of Lu Juefei,5 cases of Zhang Xichun and 1 case of Zhang Chunjiang. The characteristics of diagnosis and treatment of He Peiyu’s medical cases were analyzed:the characteristics of Dr.He’s cases were"Complicated disease syndrome in the same diagnosis""Changeable condition in the same case""Repeatedly by other doctors’mistreatment resulting in aggravation of the condition" "Acute and critical symptoms with complex syndromes""Poor compliance of the patient or concealment of the patient’s condition by his family members caused the aggravation of the condition";diagnosis and treatment features were "Chinese medicine as the main, western medicine as the auxiliary""Follow Zhongjing, dabble in various theories and flexibly use classic medical prescriptions and prescriptions since the Song and Yuan Dynasties""Create new prescriptions to adapt to clinical practice".These medical cases were valuable materials for the study of TCM clinical experience, characteristics of syndrome differentiation and objective evaluation of clinical syndrome level in modern Hong Kong.5.The study found that the Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine focused on 7 social topics:supported the formulation and promulgation of the Regulations on Traditional Chinese Medicine, and fought for the rights and interests of the Central National Medical Museum;boycotted the case of the Executive Yuan of the Nanjing Nationalist Government about the Chinese medicine schools being called Chinese medicine societies, opposed the compromise of the Central National Medical Museum, and reflected on the disadvantages of arrogance and prejudice in the field of traditional Chinese medicine;opposed the idea of the Central National Medical Museum that TCM names must follow western medical names and proposed TCM names should be used as the standard and western medical names should be used as the supplement;resisted the repeal of the Regulations on Chinese Acne Treatment at Home by the British authorities in Hong Kong and called for the preservation of the rights of Chinese people to treat acne at home;helped the victims of the Shanghai military disaster and raised money for the flood in North China, publicized and popularized the basic knowledge of war prevention and rescue;paied attention to medical disputes and supported TCM practitioners who had been falsely accused;provided a platform to discuss the future and trend of TCM.ConclusionUp to now,the academic research on modern Chinese medicine periodicals mainly focused on the overall study of periodicals, the survey and research of regional periodicals, the study of single periodicals, the study of special topics, the protection, development and utilization of periodicals. The academic circle had not made a comprehensive and in-depth study on Hong Kong Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the influence of the"Abolition of Chinese Medicine Cases"on the Chinese medicine field in modern Hong Kong and the research on the policies of the British government on Chinese medicine in Hong Kong, and the experience of syndrome treatment and academic thoughts of Chinese medicine in Hong Kong published in the Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine had not been carried out.The establishment of traditional Chinese medicine periodical was an active exploration and practice in the process of seeking the survival and development of traditional Chinese medicine."Abolition of Chinese Medicine Cases"triggered the daily establishment of modern TCM periodicals, which provided a public opinion position and a platform to consolidate the strength of TCM for safeguarding the survival of TCM and displaying the curative effect of TCM.Therefore, the modern Chinese medicine periodical was an indispensable historical material to study the history of Chinese medicine resistance, the living condition of modern Chinese medicine and the academic experience of modern doctors. The Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine was founded by You Lie and He Peiyu, and organized by the Chinese Medical Association. It was an important non-profit-oriented modern Chinese medicine periodical with distinctive times and local characteristics, with the aim of"carrying forward Chinese medicine, sorting out the inherent, enhancing the new knowledge, and not publishing any text outside the medical scope".The Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine practiced the tenet of the journal, actively collated and researched Chinese medicine, absorbed western learning to make up for the deficiency of Chinese medicine, combined the study of Chinese medicine with the pursuit of Chinese medicine development, and promoted the self-examination and self-help of the Chinese medicine circle. The Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine focused on medical social issues and was a platform for medical information reception and academic exchange between mainland China and Hong Kong,a public opinion front to fight for the rights and interests of Chinese medicine and Chinese in Hong Kong,a charity organization for disaster relief and wartime anti-virus rescue, and an important link between Chinese medicine practitioners in the mainland and Hong Kong, and the strength of all sectors of Chinese medicine. The combination of Chinese and western medical cases published in the Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine seemed far-fetched,and some prescriptions were no longer suitable for today’s use.It was inappropriate to believe that smallpox was a non-communicable disease and to reject the viewpoint of Yin and Yang and the Five Elements. The medical-related literature published in the Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine was highly readable, enabling the readers to find a trace of interest in the obscure medical remarks, showing the unique style beyond the professional quality of doctors and awakening the determination of contemporary Chinese medicine to promote the Chinese medicine.Although the medical-related literature was not the focus of this study,it also deserved attention and in-depth study. |
