Individual Nostalgia Therapy In Patients With Moderate Alzheimer’s Disease

Alzheimer’s disease is the leading cause of dementia,accounting for more than 60% of all dementia,also known as Alzheimer’s Disease in China.As the number of elderly people in our country continues to increase,the number of elderly people with Alzheimer’s disease is also increasing,Alzheimer’s disease is not normal aging,but a fatal brain disease,which not only brings great physical and mental pain to patients,reduces the quality of life,but also brings heavy economic burden to patients’ families and society.In view of the old-age problem,the state has also issued many related policies,at the same time,also encourages the social folk strength to participate in the old-age service aspect positively.In recent years,social work has developed rapidly in the social field,especially in pension services,which have been driven by social services.I did a six-month internship at the H Social Work Facility in Nanchang,where I met with elderly Alzheimer patients in a 4P program,at present,most of the domestic researches on Alzheimer’s disease are focused on the natural sciences,such as medicine and nursing,but there is no research on the humanities and social sciences.However,quite a few researchers suggest that non drug interventions should be the primary treatment for Alzheimer’s disease.Through a questionnaire survey,I got to know the Alzheimer’s Disease Knowledge of the Dementia Care Staff of the institution,and the current living conditions,problems and needs of the elderly in the institution,using ecosystem theory,individual nostalgia therapy and other professional methods of social workers,this paper conducted an intervention study on Gong’s daily life ability,cognitive level and mental behavior,and made a corresponding evaluation and reflection,the findings were as follows:(1)case intervention was effective in moderate Alzheimer’s disease,especially in improving mental behavior,but had limited effect on cognitive ability and daily living ability(2)group work is not suitable for elderly patients with moderate Alzheimer’s Disease;(3)non-drug intervention should be the main treatment for patients with Alzheimer’s disease.
