Health is the basis of a good life and a guarantee of a high quality of life.Furthermore,it is a symbol of social development and progress. In recent years, due to the rapid development of economic growth and medical technology, the health levels of global citizens have greatly improved. However,on account of the uneven distribution of power, income, products and services, impoverished rural areas and vulnerable populations experience higher health risks, and obvious regional differences with regard to citizens’ health levels exist. There are huge natural differences in the Yellow River basin.Natural characteristics affect the citizens’ health levels through different ways. There are huge differences in thecitizens’ health levels. For example,in 2018,the average life expectancy of Haixi Prefecture, located in the western region in the Yellow River basin, was less than 72 years, while the average life expectancy of Jinan City, located in the eastern region in the Yellow River basin, was more than 82 years, there were significant differences in the health levels of different prefecture-level cities in the Yellow River basin. Therefore, comprehensive measurements of citizens’ health levels in the Yellow River basin and further analysis of its influencing factors can effectively strengthen the regional connection in the Yellow River basin, narrow the regional development gap and achieve coordinated development. This study,73 prefecture-level cities in the Yellow River basin were selected as the research objects, combined with the SDGs and the health production function proposed by Grossman to build a more comprehensive index system, and the data of 2000,2005,2010,2015 and 2018 were selected to analyze the spatio-temporal changes and influencing factors of citizens’ health levels in the Yellow River basin.First of all,the entropy method is used to measure citizens’ health levels,to evaluate the citizens’ health levels, and to understand the basic situation of the citizens’ health levels in the Yellow River basin.Secondly, the global Moran’s I index and local Getis-Ord Gi* index are used to analyze the global and local spatial evolution of citizens’ health levels, and reveal the spatial distribution characteristics of citizens’ health levels in the Yellow River basin. Finally, multiple linear regression model is used to analyze the influencing factors of the citizens’ health levels in the Yellow River basin, and relevant policy suggestions are put forward according to the research conclusions. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)From 2000 to 2018,the citizens’ health levels in the Yellow River basin remained in a relatively stable range, and the average of citizens’ health index showed an overall upward trend, but the rise rate has been flat in recent years. There are some differences in the citizens’ health levels in 73 prefecture-level cities in the Yellow River basin. The citizens’ health index in each provincial capital city is higher, and the citizens’ health level is better. The proportion of the high-level region in the eastern area in the Yellow River basin is the largest, the proportion of the medium-level region in the central area in the Yellow River basin is the largest, and the proportion of the low-level region is all located in the western area in the Yellow River basin.(2)From 2000 to 2018,the citizens’ health level in 73 prefecture-level cities in the Yellow River basin showed a certain aggregation characteristics, the number of hotspots showed a fluctuating trend, and its spatial distribution trend gradually developed from the eastern region in the Yellow River basin to the central and western regions in the Yellow River basin; The number of secondary-hotspots accounted for the largest proportion, and widely distributed in the eastern, central and western regions in the Yellow River basin; The number of secondary-coldspots and coldspot areas is basically stable, but the spatial distribution trend gradually shifts from the central and western regions in the Yellow River basin to the eastern regions in the Yellow River basin.(3)GDP per capita, urbanization rate and family size have significant positive effects on the improvement of citizens’ health levels in the Yellow River basin, which can promote the improvement of the citizens’ health levels in the Yellow River basin.Among them, the positive effect of family size on the improvement of the citizens’ health levels in the Yellow River basin is the largest, followed by GDP per capita, and the urbanization rate is the smallest. The wastewater discharge and exhaust emission has a significant negative effect on the improvement of citizens’ health levels in the Yellow River basin, and the negative effect of wastewater discharge is greater than exhaust emission.
