Objective:To observing the efficacy of acupoint catgut embedding in the treatment of PCIV compared with conventional acupuncture therapy, and to sum up a simple and effective traditional Chinese medicine treatment for PCIV.Methods:A total of 68 patients with PCIV who met all the inclusion criteria were divided into treatment group and control group by random number table method, with 34 cases in each group. In the treatment group, patients were treated with catgut embedding at Fengchi(GB20 bilateral),Tianzhu(BL 10 bilateral),C4-6 Jingj iaj i points and Dazhui(GV14)once a week. The course of the treatment was one week. The control group was treated with conventional acupuncture according to the textbook six times a week.It took a week for a course of the treatment. After the treatment continued for two courses,we observed the changes of the scores of TCM vertigo symptoms ob servation table,DHI and DARS in the two groups, then evaluate and compare the clinical effect of the two groups.Results:1.The total curative effect rate of the treatment group was 91.18%comparing to that of the control group which was 73.53%.The treatment group had better curative effect than control group, and there were significantly statistical difference(P<0.05)between the two groups.2.The total scores of TCM vertigo symptoms observation table of the two groups all decreased significantly after the treatment(P<0.05).And it decreased more in the treatment group than that of control group, which showed significantly statistical difference(P<0.05).Moreover,there were significant differences between the two groups in the four symptom scores of vertigo degree, vertigo frequency and duration, headache and tinnitus(P<0.05).At the same time, there was no statistical difference in the five symptom scores of nausea, insomnia, palpation, chest tightness, waist and knee pain and softness(P>0.05).3.The DHI scores of the two groups all decreased significantly after treatment(P<0.05).And it decreased more in the treatment group than that of control group, which showed significantly statistical difference(P<0.05).4.The DARS scores of the two groups all decreased significantly after treatment(P<0.05).And it decreased more in the treatment group than that of control group, which showed significantly statistical difference(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.Acupoint catgut embedding therapy has a significant curative effect on PCIV with the total effective rate was 91.18%,which is better than conventional acupuncture treatment.2.Acupoint catgut embedding therapy can significantly reduce the total scores of Chinese medicine vertigo syndrome,DARS scores and DHI scores of patients with PCIV,which are also better than conventional acupuncture treatment.3.Compared with conventional acupuncture, acupoint catgut embedding therapy can significantly reduce the scores of vertigo degree, vertigo frequency and duration, headache and tinnitus scores of patients with PCIV.At the same time, there was no significant difference between the two groups in the improvement of nausea, insomnia, palpitation, chest tightness and waist and knee pain and softness.
