Background:Primary liver cancer is currently the sixth most common cancer in the world, and its mortality rate ranks the third in cancer-related deaths, posing a great threat to human life and health.Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the most common primary liver cancer. The disease often has no typical clinical manifestations in the early stage.Once the relevant symptoms appear, the disease is usually in the middle and advanced stage. In terms of treatments, the comprehensive treatment strategy based on surgical treatment is mostly adopted at present, but the overall prognosis is still unsatisfactory, with a 5-year survival rate of only 5%-30%.Therefore,it is of great significance to actively explore the pathogenesis of HCC and search for new tumor markers and treatment methods to improve prognosis.Syntaxin6,one of the important regulatory proteins in vesicle transport, has been proved to be involved in the regulation of cell cycle and apoptosis as the target of tumor suppressor gene P53.In addition,Syntaxin6 can regulate tumor cell migration, invasion, metastasis and chemo-resistance through a variety of mechanisms, which may be closely related to the occurrence and development of esophageal cancer and renal cancer. However, its relationship with HCC has not been reported. Objective:The purpose of this study was to detect the difference in the expression of Syntaxin6 in HCC and paracancerous tissues, and to analyze its clinical significance,so as to provide a new idea for further exploration of the pathogenesis of HCC and the search for new tumor markers and therapeutic targets. Methods:Cancer tissues and corresponding paracancerous tissues of HCC patients were collected, and the basic information and clinicopathological characteristics of the patients were collected.Immunohistochemistry and Western blot were used to detect the expression of Syntaxin6 in the cancer tissues and paracancerous tissues, and analyzing the relationship between the expression of Syntaxin6 and the clinicopathological characteristics. Results:Immunohistochemistry and Western blot showed that the expression level of Syntaxin6 in HCC tissues was higher than that in paracancerous tissues, with statistical significance(P < 0.05).The expression level of Syntaxin6 was significantly correlated with tumor size, degree of differentiation and tumor stage(P < 0.05),but not with gender, age,AFP concentration,HBV infection and Child-Pugh grade(P > 0.05).Conclusion:Syntaxin6 is highly expressed in HCC tissues, which may be closely related to the occurrence and development of HCC,and is expected to become a new tumor marker and therapeutic target.
