BACKGROUNDInfluenza viruses(IV)mainly spread through droplets and disinfestation. It can cause 3-5 million severe cases and 290-650,000 deaths worldwide every year, which will not only cause a large number of people to become ill and die,but also cause huge economic losses and social burdens.Due to occupational factors, medical staff have more opportunities to contact influenza patients in daily diagnosis and treatment activities, and their workplaces are relatively closed,so the risk of exposure to influenza virus is higher than that of the general population.ObjectiveThis study investigated the knowledge, attitude, behavior and vaccination intention of influenza and influenza vaccine among medical staff in Chongqing,so as to achieve the following objectives: 1.To understand the current situation of knowledge, attitude and behavior about influenza and influenza vaccine among medical staff in Chongqing.2.To compare the difference of knowledge, attitude, behavior and vaccination intention of influenza and influenza vaccine between sentinel hospitals and non-sentinel hospitals.3.To explore the main factors affecting the knowledge, attitude, behavior and vaccination willingness of medical staff.MethodsBy stratified random cluster sampling,4 hospitals were randomly selected from 8 national influenza surveillance sentinel hospitals in Chongqing, and 4 non-sentinel hospitals were randomly selected from the selected sentinel hospitals.According to the National Influenza Surveillance Program, sentinel hospitals are divided into monitoring departments and non-monitoring departments according to departments;Non-sentinel hospitals were divided into influenza-like cases(ILI)visiting departments and non-ILI visiting departments according to departments. The monitoring department and ILI clinic department(collectively referred to as ILI clinic and monitoring department)include(1)all internal medicine clinics, internal medicine emergency departments, fever clinics and/or pediatric clinic and pediatric emergency departments in general hospitals;(2)All outpatient departments of pediatrics, emergency departments of pediatrics and/or fever clinics in Children’s Hospital.Non-influenza surveillance departments refer to departments other than ILI visiting and monitoring departments, such as surgery, laboratory, imaging, pharmacy, etc.Questionnaire survey was conducted among doctors and nurses or medical technicians in the departments.Descriptive analysis was made on the basic situation of the respondents, knowledge, attitude and vaccination behavior of influenza and influenza vaccine, and univariate and multivariate analysis were conducted on the influencing factors of knowledge, attitude and willingness to vaccinate influenza and influenza vaccine by using Chi-square test and Logistics regression model.Results1.The awareness rate of medical staff on influenza and influenza vaccine in Chongqing was 98.65% and 25.78% respectively, and the overall awareness rate was 86.97%.The scores of influenza and influenza vaccine knowledge of medical staff in sentinel hospitals(17.03±2.80)were higher than those in non-sentinel hospitals(16.67±2.82,t=2.36,P=0.02).2.Chongqing medical staff’s attitude towards influenza vaccine is biased.22.95 percent of medical staff were worried about the side effects of influenza vaccine. The attitude cognition level of medical staff in sentinel hospitals(33.43±3.79)was higher than that in non-sentinel hospitals(32.97±3.82,t=2.65,P < 0.01).3.The influenza vaccination rate of medical staff in Chongqing in 2018-2019 influenza season was 16.78%,and the main reason for not being vaccinated was that there was no time for vaccination, accounting for 65.70%.The factors affecting vaccination are whether ILI visits and monitoring departments, working years and positive attitude towards influenza vaccine. The vaccination rate of medical staff in sentinel hospitals(19.8%)was higher than that in non-sentinel hospitals(14.52%,P < 0.01),and that in ILI visiting and monitoring departments(22.61%)was higher than that in non-influenza monitoring departments(12.12%,P < 0.01)4.The influenza vaccination willingness rate of medical staff in Chongqing in 2018-2019 influenza season was 51.70%.The factors that affect the willingness to vaccinate are whether they are visiting and monitoring departments of ILI,whether they are engaged in posts, whether they know about influenza and influenza vaccine, and whether they have a positive attitude towards influenza vaccine.Conclusion1.The knowledge level of influenza and influenza vaccine among medical staff is acceptable, and there are still deviations in attitude cognition.2.The vaccination rate of influenza vaccine is low,and there are differences between different departments and working years.3.Lack of time for medical staff to vaccinate is the primary factor hindering vaccination.4.Medical staff’s willingness to vaccinate against influenza is low,and their knowledge and attitude towards influenza and influenza vaccination history will affect their willingness to vaccinate against influenza.
