OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to compare the morning and evening dose of atorvastatin and rosuvastatin in terms of lipid-lowering efficacy.METHOD: 45 patients with chronic coronary syndrome(CCS),who have taken atorvastatin(23 cases)or rosuvastatin(22 cases)at night for at least 2 months, were researched in this study. All subjects were requested to take statin in the morning(6:00 am-8:00 am)for 2 months.Meanwhile, after that, these subjects were also called to take the same statin but at night(7:00pm-9:00 pm)for another 2 months. Moreover, they needed to attend the follow-up visit at the 8th week(first follow-up)and 16 th weeks(second follow-up).The serological indicators were tested and the adverse reactions were recorded at the beginning time and in each follow-up visit during this study.RESULTS: TC concentrations of the patients in the atorvastatin group at week 0,week-8 and week-16 were 3.64±0.81 mmol/L,3.84±0.69 mmol/L and 3.82±0.76 mmol/L,respectively.LDL-C concentrations were 1.61±0.63mmol/L,1.86±0.57 mmol/L and 1.78±0.65 mmol/L,respectively.TG concentrations were 1.83±0.89 mmol/L,1.68±0.7 mmol/L and 1.85±0.91mmol/L,respectively.And HDL-C concentrations were 1.18±0.34mmol/L,1.22±0.34 mmol/L and 1.16±0.32 mmol/L,respectively.Meanwhile,the differences in the lipid parameters among three different medication times were non-significant(P>0.05).TC concentrations of patients in the rosuvastatin group, when assessed at week 0,week-8 and week-16,were 3.64±0.9 mmol/L,3.82±1.03 mmol/L,and 3.49±0.84mmol/L,respectively(P<0.05).TC levels was observed a significant reduction from the first follow-up(the morning medication)at week-16(P<0.05).LDL-C concentrations were recorded as 1.76±0.58 mmol/L,1.93±0.77 mmol/L and 1.56±0.52 mmol/L at week-0,week-8 and week-16,respectively(P<0.05).LDL-C levels demonstrated a significant decline from morning medication at week-16(P<0.05).At week-8,TG concentrations showed a depression trend with no significant differences observed throughout the study.Simultaneously,HDL-C concentrations showed little difference when rosuvastatin was administrated at different time(P>0.05).There were significant differences between morning medication and evening medication, indicating a significant decrease in TC and LDL-C concentrations when rosuvastatin was administrated in the evening(P<0.05).When patients took rosuvastatin at three different times, the concentrations of TG were 1.36±0.68 mmol/L,1.33±0.81 mmol/L and1.41±0.82 mmol/L,respectively.And the concentrations of HDL-C were1.25±0.34 mmol/L,1.24±0.32 mmol/L and 1.19±0.35 mmol/L,respectively.There were no significant changes in TG and HDL-C concentrations under three different administration times(P >0.05).And there were no significant differences in the changes of liver function index and muscle enzymes among different administration times(P>0.05).CONCLUSION: Evening medication of rosuvastatin was more effective than its morning medication on TC and LDL-C levels. And rosuvastatin, both under morning dose and evening dose, has similar effects on TG and HDL-C levels.Atorvastatin, both taken in the morning and evening, has similar effects on TG,TC,LDL-C,and HDL-C levels.Besides, similar safety was also observed when atorvastatin and rosuvastatin were taken at different times of one whole day.
