| ObjectiveThe purpose of this study was to analyze the incidence of depressive state and related factors of elderly inpatients in the geriatric department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University.MethodsThis study was a cross-sectional survey.Comprehensive geriatric assessments of elderly inpatients in the geriatric department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University(completed by evaluators of the same specialty)were collected from January 2017 to December 2018.The depressive states was assessed by Nine items of the Patient Health Questionnaire(PHQ-9)in the comprehensive geriatric assessment.The correlation between depressive states and demographic data was analyzed by statistics;demographic data contained gender,age,marriage,educational levels,residence status,residence and primary caregiver.We used SPSS version 26.0 software to analyze data.ResultsOf the 1,615 subjects,433(26.81%)were diagnosed with depressive state,176(10.90%)with mild depressive state,130(8.05%)with moderate depressive state,71(4.40%)with moderate-severe depressive state,and 56(3.47%)with severe depressive state.Univariate analysis with χ2 test showed that seven factors including gender,age,marriage,education level,residence status,residence and primary caregiver were all correlated with depressive state(P<0.05).Then,the binary logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the factors,and the results showed that gender,age,living condition,main caregiver were related to the depressive state of elderly inpatients.ConclusionIn the elderly inpatients,female and solitary residence may be the risk factors of depressive state.Being taken care of by other people may be the protective factor of depression,and age growth is negatively related to depression. |
