Experimental Study On Improving Immune Function Of SIVmac239 Infected Rhesus Monkeys In Chronic Phase By Traditional Chinese Medicine "Yi Aikang"

Acquired immune deficiency syndrome(AIDS)caused by human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)infection has become a major social problem endangering human health.HAART therapy has become a recognized effective method for the prevention and control of AIDS worldwide.However,HAART therapy cannot completely eliminate the virus in the infected body.After stopping the HAART treatment,the virus in the body will rebound in a short time.Therefore,AIDS patients need to take HAART drugs for life.At the same time,the adverse reactions of HAART drugs and economic pressure lead to poor compliance with HAART treatment and poor prognosis.In recent years,Chinese medicine experts and scholars have studied a series of Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)compounds for treating AIDS clinical symptoms and restoring immune function based on Chinese medicine theories and clinical diagnosis and treatment cases,and have achieved good results.At present,many TCM such as Tangcao tablets and Aike Qing have been used.Yi Aikang capsules,Kang ai Bao sheng Pills,Taiqi Peiyuan Granules and many other compound recipes.TCM treatment of AIDS focuses on restoring the immune function of the patient’s body and improving the body’s immune system damage caused by the HIV virus attacking human CD4+ T cells.The approved Tangcao tablets have been in clinical use for many years.At the same time,the combined treatment of Chinese and Western medicine can reduce the adverse effects of HAART drugs,increase drug activity,promote the inhibitory effect of the virus,and is well tolerated,which can greatly improve patient compliance.This study is based on the preliminary basic and clinical research of the TCM compound "Yi Aikang",using non-human primate animal models,the toxic and side effects of Yi Aikang,improving the immune function of SIV virus infected macaques,and the combined treatment with HAART drugs.Conduct evaluation research on impact and other aspects.We conducted an experimental study on 12 experimental animals for up to one year,and we found that Yi Aikang was safe and did not show toxic and side effects on the body;Yi Aikang may not have a significant inhibitory effect on the plasma viral load of rhesus monkeys;Long-term TCM treatment may inhibit the activation of CD38+CD8+ T cells after virus infection;Yiaikang combined with LPV treatment of virus-infected macaques may increase the expression of CD38+CD4+ T cells,down-regulate the expression of CD38+CD8+ T cells and promote PD-1+CD8+T cell depletion exerts immune function;The combined treatment of Yi Aikang and FTC+PMPA+RAL will not affect the inhibition and rebound of plasma viral load.In this study,for the first time,a non-human primate model of AIDS was used to evaluate the antiviral and immune functions of the TCM compound Yi Ai kang in the treatment of AIDS.At the same time,the antiviral effect of TCM combined with two kinds of HAART drugs and the effect of TCM on reducing the toxicity and increasing the effectiveness were discussed,which provided a research basis for the clinical TCM in AIDS and the application of non-human primate AIDS animal model to evaluate the treatment of TCM in AIDS.
