Objective: To clarify the status quo of depression symptoms and coping styles of medical students in China Medical University,and to explore the influence of positive /negative coping styles on depression symptoms of medical students and the priority of influencing factors under the control of other related variables,so as to provide scientific basis for the prevention and control of depression symptoms in medical students.Methods: In this study,we randomly selected all students from one department(clinical secondary Department)and Public Health College(Public Administration of prevention)by stratified random cluster sampling method.The final survey of 1578 students was conducted.1328 effective questionnaires were obtained,with an effective response rate of 84.1%.The center for epidemical survey,depression scale(CES-D),Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire(SCSQ),social avoidance and Depression Scale(SAD),just world scale for college students were used,JWs)to evaluate the depression symptoms,coping styles,justice beliefs,social avoidance and distress of the medical students in the medical college.The questionnaire was entered by Epi Data 3.1 software,and spss26.0 and sas9.2software were used for statistical analysis of data.Results: A total of 1328 people were investigated in this study.The results showed that the score of depression was 13.55,which was higher than the national norm of 11.52.The score of positive coping style was(1.98±0.47),higher than the national norm(1.78±0.52),and the score of negative coping style was(1.13±0.52),lower than the national norm(1.59±0.66).The results of generalized linear regression showed that the influencing factors of depressive symptoms were negative coping style(β = 0.243,P < 0.001),just world belief(β =-0.232,P < 0.001),social avoidance and distress(β = 0.214,P < 0.001)and positive coping style(β =-0.178,P < 0.001).There was no significant difference in demographic information..Conclusion: In this study,we conducted a study on the status quo of depressive symptoms and coping styles of medical students in China Medical University,and studied the influence of positive / negative coping styles on depressive symptoms and their priority under the control of gender,justice belief,social avoidance and distress.The results showed that the level of depressive symptoms in this population was high,and the current situation of coping style was optimistic.Negative coping style was the primary influencing factor of depression symptoms among medical students in China Medical University,followed by belief in a just world,social avoidance and distress,and positive coping style.
