| Objective: Analyze the clinical characteristics and prognosis of temporal lobe epilepsy with electrical status epilepticus during sleep(ESES)and evaluate risk factors which have influence on their prognosis to provide reference for clinical intervention. Methods: Children with temporal lobe epilepsy with ESES admitted to the shengjing hospital affiliated to China medical university and pediatric neurology clinic wards from September 2018 to January 2020 were collected and their clinical data including:gender, the age of first seizure, the age of ESES,the interval between the first seizure and the onset of ESES,perinatal period, family history, past medical history, types of seizure, pathogen, discharge side, magnetic resonance imaging, genetic testing and therapeutic drugs were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into favorable prognosis group and poor prognosis group according to the observation of seizure,SWI and neuropsychological damage.Univariate analysis was performed byχ2 test or t test, and Logistic regression analysis was performed to investigate the relationship between the above factors and the prognosis of children with temporal lobe epilepsy with ESES.Results: Among 138 cases,96 cases(69.6%)were in the favorable prognosis group, and 42 cases(30.4%)were in the poor prognosis group.Univariate analysis showed that there were significant differences in age of first seizure, age of ESES,duration of ESES and SWI between the two groups(P < 0.05).The multivariate regression analysis showed that the duration of ESES(P<0.05,OR=1.497)and SWI(P<0.05,OR=2.610)were risk factors for the prognosis of children with temporal lobe epilepsy with ESES,the age of ESES(P<0.05,OR=0.840)was a protective factor.Gender, the interval between the first seizure and the onset of ESES,perinatal period, family history, past medical history, types of seizure, pathogen, discharge side, magnetic resonance imaging, methylprednisolone hock therapy, use benzodiazepines, combination of multiple drugs and other factors were not related to the prognosis of children with temporal lobe epilepsy with ESES(P>0.05).Conclusions: Duration of ESES and SWI are risk factors for prognosis of children with temporal lobe epilepsy with ESES,and age at the onset of ESES is a protective factor for prognosis, the older the patient, the better the prognosis. |
