ObjectiveTo study the distribution of traditional Chinese patterns in patients with allergic rhinitis and to analyze influence factors in Guangzhou. To observe the efficacy of different acupuncture methods in the treatment of allergic rhinitis, compare the effects of acupuncture on the sphenopalatine ganglion and the three nasal acupoints method;and analyze the clinical efficacy characteristics of the two acupuncture methods and traditional hormone drugs,in order to provide a reference for clinical treatment.MethodsThe complete data of 3137 patients with allergic rhinitis were collected.Frequency description and statistical analysis was applied to summarize clinical characteristics and analyze distribution of different patterns.Using prospective research methods, taking patients from the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine as the research object.Patients who were included in the study would meet the diagnosis of allergic rhinitis(AR)(refer to the diagnosis and standard guidelines of allergic rhinitis and the second edition of "Chinese Medicine Otorhinolaryngology" Content).According to the principle of randomized control,60 patients with allergic rhinitis were randomly divided into3 groups,20 cases in each group, and were treated according to the set plan of the included groups.Group A was acupuncture on the sphenopalatine ganglion.Group B was treated with three nasal acupoints treatment, and group C was treated with oral loratadine and mometasone furoate nasal spray.During the treatment, patients were not informed of the difference in treatment. The general information of the included patients, total nasal symptom score(TNSS)and mini rhinoconjunctivitis quality of life score(mini RQLQ)were collected.Enter the data into SPSS19 and analyze the data, and finally analyze the results to draw a conclusion.Results1.The peak season of allergic rhinitis in Guangzhou was summer which was statistically different from spring(P<0.01),autumn(P<0.01),and winter(P<0.01).More men than women, children and young adults was the main incidence of the group in allergic patients. The proportion of traditional Chinese patterns in descending order were Lung Qi Deficiency and Cold Syndrome,Spleen Qi Deficiency Syndrome,Lung Meridian Accumulation Heat Syndrome, and Kidney Yang Deficiency Syndrome(79.92%,18.52%,1.37%,and 0.19%,respectively).2.A total of 60 patients with allergic rhinitis were collected, and 20 cases were completed in each of the three groups.Baseline comparison: The general data(gender, age),mini RQLQ and TNSS scores of the three groups before treatment had no significant differences(P>0.05),which means 3 groups can be compared with each other.3.Compare the scores of the two acupuncture groups immediately after treatment: the comparison within the groups shows that there was a significant difference between the TNSS score immediately after treatment and before treatment(P<0.05),suggesting that both acupuncture methods can immediately improve the patient’s nasal symptoms. The median total TNSS of the three nasal acupoints treatment group was 2,which was significantly smaller than that of the sphenopalatine ganglion group(7.5).The total effective rate of the three nasal acupoints treatment group was 100%,and the total effective rate of the sphenopalatine ganglion group was 35%,suggesting that needling the three nasal acupoints has better efficient right after the treatment than needling the sphenopalatine ganglion.4.Compare the scores of the three groups after 1 course of treatment and 2 courses of treatment: the comparison within the group indicates that the TNSS score and mini RQLQ score of the three groups after 2 courses of treatment were significantly different from those before treatment(P<0.05).The scores of nasal congestion and nasal itching in the three nasal acupoints treatment group were not significantly different from those before treatment(P>0.05),indicating that both acupuncture and medical treatment can significantly improve the patient’s nasal symptoms and quality of life, but symptoms of nasal congestion and nasal itching can not be significantly improved by needling three nasal acupoints;comparison between groups showed that there was no statistically significant difference in nasal congestion symptoms between the three groups after 2 courses of treatment(P>0.05),while for other nasal symptoms and quality of life, there is a significant difference in score between the palatine ganglion group and the control group, suggesting that the three groups have the same effect on improving nasal congestion after 2 courses of treatment, but for other nasal symptoms and quality of life, the sphenopalatine ganglion group and the control group have the same effect, and they are all better than the three nasal acupoints treatment group. In terms of total effective rate, the total effective rate of the three nasal acupoints treatment group for improving nasal symptoms after 2 courses is 40%,which is much lower than that of sphenopalatine ganglion group(100%)and control group(95%).In terms of improving the quality of life, the total effective rate of the three nasal acupoints treatment group is 60%,which is lower than the sphenopalatine ganglion group(100%)and the control group(90%).Conclusion1.The incidence of allergic rhinitis in Guangzhou is closely related to the season, age and traditional Chinese pattern. The most common clinical syndrome in traditional Chinese pattern is Lung Qi deficiency and cold type.2.Both acupuncture treatment and traditional nasal hormone drugs and antihistamine drugs are effective methods for allergic rhinitis, which can significantly improve the nasal symptoms, accompanying symptoms and the quality of life of the patients with allergic rhinitis.3.Three needle nasal acupoints therapy can quickly improve the nasal symptoms of patients with allergic rhinitis, which can be used for patients with acute allergic rhinitis.4.Acupuncture on the sphenopalatine ganglion is better than three nasal acupuncture therapy in maintaining allergic rhinitis, and is equivalent to nasal hormone drugs and antihistamine drugs.
