At the National Health and Health Conference,General Secretary Xi Jinping clearly pointed out that we should pay attention to the healthy development of residents and implement the strategic position of healthy life, which was also reflected in the Outline of the Healthy China 2030 Plan. However,to promote a healthy lifestyle and reduce the occurrence of diseases, the improvement of the dietary health level of urban and rural residents plays a vital role in this regard.Since the establishment of China, the living standard of residents has undergone a qualitative leap, and the dietary structure of residents has also changed significantly. Therefore, the dietary health problems caused by this and even the phenomenon of "returning to poverty due to illness" need urgent attention. Therefore,in such a construction background, focusing on the health of the residents’ diet and nutrition balance is of extremely important practical significance to promote the healthy development of the society at a deep level.Firstly, based on literature review and comprehensive analysis of Becker’s health demand theory,Keynes’ s income consumption theory and intergenerational income elasticity theory, this paper puts forward research hypothesis.Using the data of China Health and Nutrition Survey, this paper analyzes the influence of income on dietary health of residents through the panel model.Furthermore, the research hypothesis is rigorously demonstrated from the perspective of intergenerational mobility. The results showed that:(1)Income can effectively improve the dietary health level of residents, and income can promote the protein intake of residents through nutritional decomposition.(2)Through the classification of food structure,it is found that the increase of income level increases the consumption of fruits, dairy products and eggs, thus promoting dietary health.(3)The impact of income on dietary health has an intergenerational effect, which is transmitted through economic capital, human capital and social capital.(4)The unbalanced development of healthy diet exists in different income groups.Low income families have insufficient intake, while high income groups have excessive intake.(5)The income effect of healthy diet of rural residents is higher than that of urban residents, and that of male residents is higher than that of female residents.Addressing income inequality and improving the income of low-income families can help improve their dietary health.Due to the existence of intergenerational effect, the income effect of dietary health has a superposition effect.Increasing the income of low-income families and food subsidies will promote the improvement of the overall dietary health of residents. When the income is no longer a constraint on the food consumption choices of residents, the income effect of dietary health gradually decreases.Health education should be popularized to enhance the awareness of dietary health of residents, prevent the nutritional imbalance caused by excessive intake, promote the realization of health poverty alleviation, and prevent the class gap from income inequality to health inequality. Finally, the contribution and innovation of this paper are as follows: First, the index of dietary quality index(DBI),which is more suitable for Chinese residents,is adopted to investigate the influence of income on dietary health;Secondly, the dietary health of different income groups was discussed from the perspectives of food structure and nutrient decomposition.Thirdly, from the perspective of intergenerational mobility, the influence of paternal income on offspring’s dietary health and its influencing mechanism were explored.Fourthly, the gender and urban-rural differences of the impact of income on dietary health were further explored.
