| Objective To study the clinical effect of low-intensity focused ultrasound(LIFU)stimulation of sphenopalatine ganglion(SPG)in the treatment of allergic rhinitis(AR)patients with nasal congestion, runny nose, and nasal itching.Method On the basis of the previous research in this institute, further observation and recording of 80 adult AR patients, each group of 40 patients, were randomly divided into two groups, and their SPGs were treated with LIFU stimulation and acupuncture respectively.Ultrasound stimulation treatment selected stimulation parameters of1 MHz,5cm2 as the stimulation mode for patients with allergic rhinitis, once a week beside continued treatment for 4 weeks, and the duration is 5 minutes for each time, the acupuncture group was treated with acupuncture unilateral sphenopalatine ganglion,and1 the treatment was performed once a week and continued treatment for 4 weeks.Observe the changes in nasal symptoms and signs before treatment,30 minutes,2months,and 4 months after the end of the entire treatment course, and use the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)to treat the subjective nasal symptoms of the two groups(Nasal itching, runny nose, sneezing, nasal congestion)and overall symptoms are subjectively scored, and nasal signs are scored with nasal endoscopy to determine immediate and short-term curative effects, and the side effects of the two groups of people in the treatment and the treatment Compliance is compared. Results Both groups of patients had undergone 4 consecutive weeks of treatment. The nasal symptoms and overall symptoms of the subjects were scored at 4 time points before treatment,30 minutes after treatment,2 months, and 4 months. The results of the two groups of patients of nasal symptoms and overall symptoms, except nasal itching and overall symptoms after treatment 4 months, evaluation scores at 4 time points before and after treatment were not statistically significant(P>0.05)after two independent sample t-tests;30 minutes,2 months after treatment,Compared with the symptoms of the nose at 4 months before treatment, the p value of the two groups was less than 0.05,the difference was statistically significant;in addition,38 patients in the acupuncture group developed fear during the treatment, and only 4 patients in the LIFU group developed fear during the treatment. Conclusion LIFU stimulation of the sphenopalatine ganglion and acupuncture therapy have roughly equivalent effects in the treatment of allergic rhinitis. However,LIFU stimulation of the sphenopalatine ganglion has the advantages of simple operation process, repeated treatments in a short time, avoiding the risk of fear and infection caused by acupuncture, safe treatment, and easy acceptance by patients, and it is worthy of in-depth clinical research. This study still has a small sample size, relatively short follow-up time and other shortcomings. The later experiments can optimize the LIFU control parameters for the expected curative effect, and more in-depth research is needed. |
