| Objective:To investigate the effect of benzodiazepines on blood pressure in hypertensive patients with sleep disturbances and its major factors. Methods:A total of sixty hypertensive patients with sleep disturbances, and with a history of using benzodiazepines for sedation and hypnosis during their hosipitalization in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine,Yifu Hospital,Nanjing Medical University during April 2016 to December 2019,were enrolled in our study. They were divided into two groups, either using benzodiazepines only for one day(n=29)or for two consecutive days(n=31).Then we monitored their blood pressure and hear rate at 8:00,14:00 or 16:00 and 20:00 on the day before using or after using benzodiazepines for 24 hours and 48 hours,as well as their blood for measuring the hemoglobin, total cholesterol, lipoprotein, triglyceride, urea, uric acid and other biochemical parameters. The cardiac ultrasound was used to measure their left atrium diameter, left ventricular end diastolic dimension, and left ventricular ejection fractions.Results:1.Compared with the blood pressure before using the benzodiazepines, there was a significant decrease in systolic, diastolic and mean arterial blood pressure after taking the sleeping pills for 24 hours(P<0.05),while there was no difference in the heart rate(P> 0.05);2.BMI,hemoglobin,total cholesterol, triglycerides,LAD,LVDd,LVEF had no effect on the decrease in systolic, diastolic and mean arterial blood pressure of the hypertensive patients with sleep disturbances(P>0.05).3.There was no differences in the systolic, diastolic, and mean arterial pressure between the group taking the medication for only 1 day and for two consecutive days(P>0.05).Conclusion:1.Benzodiazepines have a beneficial effect on reducing the systolic, diastolic, and mean arterial pressure in hospitalized patients with hypertension and sleep disorders, but have no effect on heart rate.2.The hypotensive effect of benzodiazepines are not affected by BMI,hemoglobin lipoprotein,LAD,LVDd and LVEF.3.Whether only taking benzodiazepines for one day or two consecutive days, there was a decrease in systolic, diastolic, and mean arterial pressure. However,no difference was showed after taking the pills for different days. |
