Objective:Investigate the situation of sleep duration of the elderly in Changchun community, and analyze the relationship between sleep duration and hypertension. We aim to provide a scientific basis for the formulation of health education measures for the elderly in Changchun, which can improve the health literacy and the quality of life of the elderly. Methods:In June 2019,a total of 7 jurisdictions,1 county and 2 county-level cities in Chaoyang District,Nanguan District,Kuancheng District,Erdao District,Green Park District,Shuangyang District,Jiutai District,Nong’an County,Yushu City and Dehui City were selected in Changchun City with multi-stage stratified cluster sampling method.Residents were selected who have lived locally for more than 5 years and are older than or equal to the age of 60.All respondents signed the informed consent form.A total of 6,614 questionnaires were recovered, invalid questionnaires(incomplete biochemical information)were excluded, and 6,276 valid questionnaires were obtained, which was 94.9% efficient. The research includes questionnaires and physical examinations, data entry using Epidata3.1,importing IBM SPSS Statistics 24.0(IBM Canada Ltd)software to establish a database and analyze it.Quantitative data are statistically described using the mean ± standard deviation method, the description of qualitative data uses the composition ratio or rate(%),the Chi-square test is used for comparison between groups, and the expected frequency of cells is less than 5 is used to use Fisher accurate testing. The between-group comparisons for the univariate analysis of isolated systolic hypertension were between patients with isolated systolic hypertension and a normal population without hypertension.Analysis of the relationship between sleep duration and hypertension, and simple systolic hypertension in the elderly by using multifactorial logistic regression.Results:1.A total of 6,276 elderly people were included in the study. The mean levels of average sleep duration and nap duration were 7.45±1.36 hours,24.90±9.00 minutes.A total of 1,347(21.5%)of the elderly slept less than 7 hours,3,641(58.0 %)of the elderly from 7 to 8 hours, and 1,288(20.5 percent)over 8 hours.A total of 3,274(52.2%)of the elderly take a nap at noon. There were 2,825(45.0%)older people with an early to bed and early to rise sleep pattern,112(1.8%)with an early to bed and late to rise sleep pattern, and 3,141(50.5%)older people with a late to bed and early to rise sleep pattern198(3.2%)with a late to bed and late to rise sleep pattern.A total of 3,252 elderly people was hypertensive, with a prevalence rate of 51.8%.Among the elderly with hypertension,22.39% of them had isolated systolic hypertension, and the number of them was 728.2.Of the 6276 study subjects,1264(49.8%)were male hypertensive patients and1988(50.2%)were female hypertensive patients.Univariate analysis showed that gender,BMI,occupation, marital status, annual per capita income, frequency of consumption of red meat, frequency of consumption of other meat such as poultry, and frequency of consumption of aquatic products were influential factors for hypertension.Multi-factor dualistic regression showed no association between multiple sleep duration and hypertension.Univariate analysis showed that BMI,marital status, occupation, annual per capita income, passive smoking, napping status, sleep pattern, physical activity status, salt consumption taste, oil consumption taste, frequency of poultry meat consumption, frequency of milk and its products intake, frequency of rice and its products consumption, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, family history of hypertension status, and depression status were the influencing factors for simple systolic hypertension.Multi-factor dualistic regression analysis shows that nap(OR =0.843,95% CI: 0.712-0.998)reduces the risk of hypertension in the elderly during simple systolic period.Late sleep and early rise(OR=1.285,95% CI: 1.027-1.467)The risk of hypertension in the elderly with simple systolic period is 1.227 times higher than that of early sleep mode.Conclusions:1.The sleep duration of elderly people in Changchun community was 7.45±1.36 hours, which was longer compared with the Chinese average and other provinces and cities, and most elderly people are more used to going to bed late and getting up early.2.Napping was associated with simple systolic hypertension in older adults in Changchun community, and napping reduced the risk of simple systolic hypertension in older adults.sleep pattern was associated with simple systolic hypertension in older adults, and sleeping pattern of late to bed and early to rise increased the risk of simple systolic hypertension in older adults;no correlation was found between sleep duration, napping, and sleep pattern and hypertension.
