| Consecutive interpretation,as one of the most commonly-used ways in interpretation,is an important field for interpretation studies.Consecutive interpretation is a special type of communication during which the interpreter delivers one interlocutor’s information into target language by natural conversational segments to the other between the intervals of conversation to achieve the purpose of communication.Since both of interlocutors’information is conveyed by the same interpreter, consecutive interpretation also reflects the cooperative relations between interpreter and interlocutor. Therefore, cooperative principle,as a guiding principle for daily conversation, also plays an active role in guiding for consecutive interpretation.Based on the author’s own field practice for a speech on Lesson Planning, this thesis aims at analyzing the application of the four maxims of Cooperative Principle, including Quantity Maxim,Quality Maxim,Relation Maxim and Manner Maxim,in consecutive interpretation through cases and examples to address the problems, such as redundant information, new words,a lack of logic and so on.Given the feature of promptness and site performance, the author further points out that even if interpreters can not exactly observe the principle, they should also try to be faithful to the original information at the maximum extent through the guidance of the four maxims of Cooperative Principle to establish the cooperative relations among interpreter and interlocutors so that the conversation between speakers and listeners can be carried out smoothly and successfully. |
