Subashi Buddhist Temple siteis an important Buddhist historical relicsite of ancient Qiuci kingdom in Kuqa County,Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.It is also asignificant transportation junction on the ancient Silk Road of China.Through the research of the relics found at the site,it is of great significance to understand the related social technology and culture of the Qiuci at that time as well as the substances exchanged with the surrounding areas.This paperselects 142 Tang copper wares found at Subashi Buddhist Temple as the main research target.After classification,a series of scientific analysis experiments are carried out on these copper wares,like alloy analysis,Metallographic observation and scanning electron microscope energy spectrometeranalysis,lead isotope ratio analysis.Subashi Buddhist Temple sitecopper wares include small acessories,living appliances and tiny miscellaneous copper wares,It also has some weapons,Buddhist appliances and coins.The material types of copper wares in Subashi Buddhist Temple site in varied forms,with bronze,red copper,brass and some of them contains little content of arsenic and antimony.Combining with the corresponding types,bronzes are most widely distributed,and has no specific corresponding type.Red coppers and brasses are mostly processed into small acessories.Some of the brasses still exist in the ribbon of living appliances and the miscellaneous types.From the process technology of copper wares at Subashi Buddhist Temple site,it has various kinds of processing methods,and different types of wares correspond to the processing methods of different alloy materials.As for lead isotope ratio analysis result,their ore source is all common lead ore and shows from multiple sources or remelting phenomenon,each type has some samples with similar source.Finally according alloy types and the most of coins in Subashi Buddhist Temple site was self-made in Qiuci,and also has Tang dynasty central district coins.With the help of relevant archaeological and historical documents,the following preliminary conclusions are drawn: at that time,the understanding of metal copper alloy in subashi buddhist temple area was relatively comprehensive,and there were mature metal manufacturing technologies.Meanwhile,kuqa,as the political and military center of qiuci region in the tang dynasty,had frequent exchanges with the central district and diversified trade contacts.As an important religious center in qiuci region,the religious and cultural exchange between subashi buddhist temple and overseas promoted material exchange to more prosperity.
