Translation Methods Of Passive Sentences In EST From The Perspective Of Communicative Translation Theory

Nowadays,the trend of globalization is remarkable.The improvement of the comprehensive national strength of each country depends on the progress and development of science and technology,which is an important factor and force in promoting the development of modern productive forces.China is on the rise in scientific and technological innovation.And China’s research on foreign advanced technologies is constantly increasing,which promotes the development of English for science and technology translation.At the same time,it means that the translation of EST into Chinese need higher quality requirements."Special Forces Surface Warfare" is a scientific and technical text.Its content is concise and truthful,and terminology is widely used.Meanwhile,it is difficult to translate because there are many passive sentences in the article in order to state objective facts.This translation practice report will start from the perspective of communicative translation theory,and take the part translated by the author in Chapters 3-5 of "Special Force Surface Warfare" as an example to study the English for science and technology translation passive sentences.The author will study the Chinese translation of passive sentences in EST through literal translation,free translation and omission translation.It is hoped that it can provide a summary and guidance for the translation of passive sentences in English for science and technology,as well as a reference for the construction of China’s navy.
