| From 2018 to 2019,the author worked as a volunteer Chinese teacher in Universiti Malaysia Pahang for an academic year.During the teaching process,it was found that native Malay students in the primary stage of Chinese had obvious errors in pronunciation of mandarin initials and finals.Based on the phonetic materials of the final Chinese speaking test in Universiti Malaysia Pahang, this paper studies the phonetic materials of 200 Malay students in the primary stage of Chinese, and analyzes a series of phonetic errors in the Chinese language flow by means of experimental phonetics.Besides, the causes of these errors and some specific learning suggestions are also proposed. This paper includes six chapters. The first chapter is an introduction, which summarizes the reason of topic selection, research significance, research content and research methods, and focuses on the research on Chinese phonetic errors, especially on Malaysian students. The second chapter focuses on the design of error experiment.Chapter three and chapter four use Adobe Audition and Praat to study Malay students’ phonetic errors in initials and finals by means of experimental phonetics. The research results show that Malay students have difficulty in pronouncing aspirated initials, retroflex initials, initials h[x] and r[(?)],and also in pronouncing single vowel ü[y],er[(?)],-i[(?)],-i[(?)] and back nasal ing[i(?)],eng[(?)(?)].In addition,by calculating the errors rate of Chinese characters related to the error syllables, the research concludes that the Chinese phonetic errors rate of Malay students and the difficulty leve of Chinese characters is out of proportion.Chapter five analyzes the causes of errors from the aspects of negative transfer of mother tongue, the influence of Chinese phonetic system, the influence of learning motivation and learning strategies, the influence of learning environment and negative transfer of cultural factors.Chapter six puts forward some suggestions from three aspects: students, teachers and schools, aiming at the initials and finals teaching of Malay students in the primary stage of Chinese. It suggests that students should enhance their learning confidence and construct scientific learning strategies.Teachers should help students to enhance their learning motivation, improve their knowledge system of Chinese phonetics, make use of fragmented time for targeted teaching, and use methods such as visual presentation, hyperbole, antithesis, etc.Schools should arrange class hours reasonably, select teaching materials scientifically and organize activities actively. At present, there are few studies on Malay learners’ Chinese phonetic errors in the academic circle, and the research on acquiring samples from the perspective of language flow is basically blank. However, studies based on speech flow make it easier to detect errors. The author hopes that this study can provide some useful reference for the future teaching of Chinese phonological errors of Malay students. |
