Pingwu Bao’en Temple was built in the Ming Dynasty’s orthodox five years(AD1440),and after 20 spring and autumn,it was completed in Tianshun four years(AD1460).The main hall of Bao’en Temple,the Wanfo Pavilion,and the north-south cloisters are painted with murals covering an area of more than 300 square meters.The murals contain rich historical and artistic values.The introduction of this article introduces the main ideas in the process of studying the murals of Bao’en Temple in Pingwu and draws the overall research roadmap.The second part combines the historical background data of Bao’en Temple with field investigations to make a general overview of Pingwu’s Baoen Temple and its murals.An introduction to the distribution of murals at Bao’en Temple and an analysis of the current status of murals at Bao’en Temple;the third part is an in-depth interpretation of the images of murals at Bao’en Temple in Pingwu.The mural of "Li Buddha Figure";the fourth part cuts in from the perspective of the "Twelve Yuanjue" murals in Pingwu Bao’en Temple,excavating the historical reasons for the male figure of the "12Yuanjue" murals in Pingwu Bao’en Temple and the cloud pattern behind the bodhisattva And layout;finally,taking the overall murals of Pingwu Baoen Temple as the starting point,exploring the artistic style of murals of Pingwu Baoen Temple,digging out the value behind it and the inspiration of the paintings of Baoen Temple to my painting.According to the exploration of various aspects,this article preliminarily believes that Pingwu is located on the border,and the special geographical environment has made the murals in Bao’en Temple unique.The murals of Pingwu Bao’en Temple are a combination of Tibetan Buddhism and Chinese Buddhism,as well as the crystallization of the interaction and association between the toast and the central imperial power.The murals of Pingwu Bao’en Temple both reflect the social customs and beliefs of the Ming Dynasty and contain profound historical value.significance.
