International understanding and awareness and communication competence are becoming increasingly significant and the key competency in the new curriculum standard also points out the importance of cultivating culture awareness.However,there still exist many problems in English culture teaching in senior high school,so it is important to find a suitable method for it.Textbook drama is an effective method for culture teaching,based on task-based teaching method,communicative teaching method and situational teaching method.Although textbook drama teaching has been studied a lot,only a few related to culture teaching and most of them focus on the theoretical level,meanwhile,the study of the current situation,in different aspects of culture,is much less.In order to further study the current situation of the use of textbook drama in culture teaching in senior high school,this study collects data through questionnaire and interview and conducts empirical research.Based on the affective filter hypothesis,output hypothesis and sociocultural theory,this study takes senior high school in Xi’an Foreign Language School as an example,through the questionnaire for 210 students and interview to 5 senior high school English teachers,to explore the current situation of the use of textbook drama in culture teaching in high school.With the help of SPSS 24.0,the data of the questionnaire was sorted out and analyzed.Additionally,through the interview of 39 students and 5 teachers,existing problems and corresponding strategies of textbook drama in culture teaching were collected,aiming at putting forward some suggestions for the use of textbook drama in the future.Through the analysis and discussion of the data,the following conclusions have been drawn.First of all,currently,in senior high school English teaching,textbook drama teaching can greatly promote culture teaching,mainly reflected in the three dimensions,culture knowledge,culture emotion and culture skills.Secondly,there still are some problems in the use of textbook drama for culture teaching,mainly including the language itself,culture differences and the process of performance.Finally,for the existing problems,some relevant strategies have been put forward from the perspective of students and teachers: students often look through the materials,discuss in groups and practice repeatedly;for teachers,teaching culture in advance,combining the relevant video and movies for teaching and making good use of the daily teaching process and duty report.
