With the development of digital technology and the popularity of the Internet,the rise of virtual reality technology,from text to image,film creators keep trying to break the frame and strive to show the greatest possibility of narratio.The spatial expression of nonlinear narrative structure increases the possibility and diversity of film narration,the film space is expanded,narrative style is also gradually extending to more liberalized expression and interaction.The study of film narration can not be separated from the two important elements of time and space.Compared with classical linear narration,nonlinear narration has more spatial characteristics,from the point of view of the film space,the change of the film from the traditional two-dimensional screen to the VR volume space,the traditional screen media has some limitations on the carrying capacity of film nonlinear narration.After the introduction of digital technology,film space has been expanded in physical properties,sensory experience and interaction,to some extent,the narrative ability of the film is extended.The new media based on VR technology objectively complements the limitations of traditional screen media in nonlinear narrative expression,combined with 360 omni-directional perspective,interaction and immersion,the narrative characteristics such as multi-perspective,gamification,interaction and attention guidance embodied in VR media is able to give full play to the characteristic advantages of nonlinear narration.At the same time,it’s also a fact that can’t be ignored,nowadays the nonlinear narration in VR media and even VR technology itself are still in the stage of exploration and development.The existence of VR technology at the present stage such as motion sickness and visual blur,comparing with the mature production mode and presentation mode of traditional films,there are still defects,it will take time to achieve true immersion and mature narrative expression.If these limitations can be optimized or resolved in the future,presentation through VR media,perhaps it could be another option for film creators to present narrative possibilities,realizing a new breakthrough in the future creation practice.
