The Turn Of Naipaul’s Travel Writing In The "India Trilogy“

V.S.Naipaul was a multicultural immigrant writer.The creation of "India Trilogy" took 26 years.During the long creation process,both the content and the way of Naipaul’s writing have undergone obvious changes.This paper takes Naipaul’s "India Trilogy" as the research object.Based on the text of fineness,this paper analyzes his works one by one,and sums up the transformation process of Naipaul’s whole career.This paper is divided into five parts:the first chapter is the introduction,which is an overview of Naipaul’s research at home and abroad.The second part is the analysis of the background of Naipaul’s travels.On the one hand,the influence of multiculturalism leads to the ambiguity of his identity.On the other hand,the experience of exile also prompts Naipaul to travel to India with his cultural identity.The third part analyzes the differences in Naipaul’s writing on India,from the phenomenological criticism of India to the understanding of the nature of Indian civilization,and finally recognizes the Indian reform in the new era.Naipaul’s attitude towards India has undergone a significant change.The fourth part analyzes the change of writing style in India,from personal subjective expression to objective presentation,and finally to the documentary of news interview.Naipaul’s writing is gradually approaching from "virtual" to "real".The fifth section analyzes the reasons for Naipaul’s change.On the one hand,due to the change of eastern and western cultural positions,as well as Naipaul’s deepening understanding of his own culture,that is,from seeking the cultural identity of India to the cultural identity of a global citizen,Naipaul finally deepened his understanding of India.On the other hand,Naipaul’s principle of "truth" in literary creation prompted him to constantly change his style of writing to approach the truth.
