The Yi-xiang Interpretation In Wang Yangming’s “The Unity Of The Two”

At present,the academic discussion on Wang Yangming’s "unity of the two"mainly focuses on "the relationship between the two" and "the direction of it.With regard to the relationship between the two,the view of "the two are integrated" is more in line with Yangming’s original intention.As for the direction of it,most of the academic discussions are paranoid and fail to grasp it as a whole.Through the method of "image interpretation" to study the "unity of the two",it is more consistent with Yangming’s own way of thinking,which is conducive to solve the problems in the current research.Using the method of "image interpretation" to analyze the unity of knowledge and practice,we can find that "the unity of knowledge and practice" is the most fundamental way of thinking in Yangming’s thoughts,which is embodied in three levels: the unity of noumenon and popularity;the unity of recognition and Practice on the level of work;and the unity of noumenon and work on the level of work.The first level of "unity of noumenon and popularity" is in terms of the relationship between innate conscience and all things.Through the proposition of "mind is reason",Yangming solved Zhu Zi’s problem of "distraction and reason are two",and realized the integration of all things in the sense of "nothing outside the heart".On this basis,Yangming constructed a vertical popular system with "mind(knowledge)-meaning-thing" as the basic structure.The structure of "mind(knowledge)-meaning-thing" comes from the expression of the relationship between "mind-image-word" in the book of changes.The second level of "unity of recognition and practice" refers to the unity of internal and external dimensions in Gongfu theory of Yangming Dynasty.As far as time goes,"unity of knowledge and practice" means unity in sincerity."Sincerity" is fundamentally to keep good and go bad,and what ambition wants to make is to keep good and go bad.Inner self-awareness and outer push are two dimensions of Yang Ming’s work theory after transcending "meditation",that is,to realize the realization of conscience inward and to push the practice of conscience outward.In the end,this work must be carried out in the specific moral behavior,that is to say,"practice in the matter".The third level of "the unity of noumenon and work" means the unity of noumenon three natures and work three methods.Yangming’s noumenon has three meanings of "heart","nature" and "conscience".This is in accordance with the three meanings of "Yi",which are easy to simplify,difficult to change and changeable.It echoes with the inner self-evident,sincerity and external push in Yangming’s Gongfu theory,which embodies the characteristics of Yangming’s thought "noumenon is Gongfu".
