| India is located in the Northern Hemisphere,north and China,Nepal,Bhutan and other countries bordering,northeast and Bangladesh,Myanmar and other countries,north-west close to Pakistan,southwest adjacent to the Arabian Sea.India is the second most populous country in the world and one of the brics countries.It plays an indispensable role in the development of the world economy.During Rao’s tenure as prime minister,India began to implement the "east-oriented policy".Through the efforts of several governments,the policy achieved certain results,and the economy of the Northeast India developed greatly.As one of the most populous,geographically largest and industrially developed states in the Northeast India,Assam is also one of the key regions in the BCIM economic cooperation region.Geographically,Assam is close to Bhutan,China,Bangladesh,Myanmar and other countries,and its special geographical location and rich natural resources attract large numbers of immigrants.Despite Assam’s advantages,economic and social development in Assam has been hampered by ethnic tensions,poor infrastructure and remoteness.The paper analyzes and studies Assam’s current economic and social development.Taking the 21 st century as the time node,this paper expounds the development course of Assam,and through the analysis of the proportion of the three industrial sectors in Assam,the gross output value,the population growth rate and the population employment rate,etc.,this paper objectively discusses the level of economic and social development in Assam and its existing problems.Agriculture plays an important role in Assam’s economic development,but it is not integrated with modern science and technology,resulting in low agricultural productivity.Assam,for all its resources,did not develop into adominant industry because of a lack of good infrastructure,highly skilled personnel,and a well established market system.The service sector has contributed greatly to Assam’s economic development,but it has also contributed to the uneven development of the industry. |
