A Brief Study On The Counterfeit Currency During The Anti-Japanese War

In November 1935,the national government carried out currency reform.There are a series of problems in the process of legal currency policy from promotion to implementation,among which the problem of counterfeiting legal currency is rampant all over the country.This seriously affects the credit of legal currency.Behind the phenomenon of forgery of legal currency,there were not only the participation of the interest profit-seeking groups at that time,but also the manipulation behind the Japanese militarism,which made the domestic forgery of legal currency more complicated.Based on the investigation of the profit-seeking groups of Chinese folk forgery,the activities of Japanese militarist forces forgery and the measures and policies of the national government,this paper discusses the process and characteristics of the activities of private profit-seeking groups and Japanese militarism forgery,as well as the corresponding measures taken by the national government on this issue and policy,and on this basis to explore the Anti-Japanese War period between China and Japan "counterfeiting war" contest.In November 1935,legal currency began to be issued,and counterfeiting of legal currency coins began to be found on the market in major cities in China.The main reason for the problem of counterfeiting legal currency is to pursue profit.In addition,the circulation of the national government’s auxiliary currency is not enough to meet the market demand,and the service charge for the exchange of the legal currency is high,which gives the reason for the counterfeiting of legal currency.In addition,the lack of propaganda to distinguish the authenticity of legal currency and the convenience provided by the domestic Leased territory for the activities of counterfeiting legal currency aggravate the problem of counterfeiting legal currency in China.With the Japanese invasion of China,Japanese militarist forces began to forge Chinese legal currency,and trying to use it in the occupied areas and the Nationalist Party controlled areas to obtain materials and weaken China’s Anti-Japanese war.In order to better forge Chinese legal currency,the Japanese military set up the third section of the Noborito Laboratory to specially develop forgery of Chinese legal currency.The national government has taken a series ofcountermeasures,including guiding the domestic public opinion to crack down on the phenomenon of counterfeiting legal currency,increasing the supply of legal currency,enacting relevant laws to severely punish counterfeiters,strengthening the publicity of identifying the authenticity of legal currency,setting up the legal currency authenticity office,strictly restricting the flow of legal currency in the occupied area,etc.,so as to hinder the manufacture and circulation of counterfeited legal currency,and achieved certain results.However,affected by the complex situation in China and Japanese militarism,the national government has not fundamentally solved the problem of counterfeiting legal currency.
