The world is now in a changing era of great development and adjustment.English language is widely used in the world,and it can be used as an important tool for the exchange of science,technology,culture and so on among the different countries,so English education has gained more attention in China.Because primary school is the key period of English learning,most English courses are offered from primary school.This stage of learning plays a very important role for primary school students.English teaching materials carry a wealth of English language knowledge,which can not only help primary school students to learn English,but also help teachers to prepare lessons,have lessons and conduct classroom teaching to a certain extent.As the main materials of classroom teaching,its position is very important.Students learning results are closely related to the quality of the content of teaching materials.The policy of diversification of teaching materials has been widely implemented,and the English curriculum standard for compulsory education has been promulgated and implemented.In this context,how to choose suitable teaching materials for students is crucial,so it is necessary to analyze and evaluate English teaching materials.Teachers will definitely choose part of the teaching materials and adjust part of the teaching arrangement according to the different situations of students,but they also need to fully understand the teaching materials in the analysis of the teaching materials,understand the advantages and disadvantages of the teaching materials,and can’t copy mechanically and pass the teaching materials to students without any changes.The evaluation of teaching materials has gradually attracted the attention of a large number of scholars.Through the analysis and evaluation of the teaching materials,experts and scholars can better understand the teaching materials,so as to adjust the compilation of the teaching materials,make it more suitable for the needs of teachers and students,improve the quality of classroom teaching,and make the teaching materials better serve the teaching and learning.In this paper,the author chooses the popular edition of primary school English textbooks for analysis and evaluation,hoping to understand the advantages and disadvantages of the textbooks through this research,so as to have a deeper understanding of the popular edition of primary school English textbooks.In this paper,the author chooses 30 teachers from two primary schools in Luoyang City,Henan Province to conduct a questionnaire survey.The main purpose of this study is to study the advantages and disadvantages of the popular edition of primary school English textbooks through the teacher questionnaire survey,combined with the requirements of the curriculum standard.The author finds that most teachers agree with this set of textbooks.In view of some deficiencies in the textbooks,the author will gradually put forward suggestions for improvement.
