| This English-to-Chinese translation report is based on the translation practice of chapter three of the academic monograph: Learning and Teaching Languages Through Content: A Counter-balanced Approach.This educational text mainly describes that learner processes second language in a series of activities and experiments.This report can provide inspiration for translation of academic monograph on education,and references for teachers and students of pedagogy major to read and publish papers.With the “adaptation and selection” and “three-dimensional transformations” of Eco-translatology that was proposed by Professor Hu Gengshen in 2001,the report concentrates on the chapter three of Processing Language Through Content.The translator adopts Eco-translatology’ “three-dimensional transformations” which are the linguistic dimension,the communicative dimension and the cultural dimension to guide the translation practice.As the same time,the translator integrates the “threedimensional transformations” with some other traditional methods and skills such as passive voice to active voice,linear translation,reversion translation and so on to conform to the translation criteria---accuracy and fluency.After that,the translator realizes that the “adaptation and selection” and “three-dimensional transformations” are suitable this kind of educational monograph,and it can convey the linguistic forms,communicative goals and cultural connotations accurately.Besides,Professor Hu Gengshen also sets forth some other significant translation principles such as “the translation criteria” and so on.This not only advances new requirements for the completion of translation task,but also offers the language learners’ much valuable learning experience. |
