Study On The Vocabulary Of Dongguan Cantonese Dialect From The Perspective Of Geographical Linguistics

Dongguan is located in the south-central part of Guangdong Province,which is the transitional area between Cantonese dialect and Hakka dialect.Therefore,the transitional characteristics of its dialect are worth studying.This paper takes Dongguan Cantonese dialect vocabulary as the main research object,and selects 470 single-word entries and 138 vocabulary entries to explore in-depth and meticulous investigations on the survey points of 29 towns(districts)in Dongguan.Through the collation and analysis of specific survey entries,several dialect maps are drawn,and the geographical linguistic methods are used to analyze and research the reason of specific vocabulary items on the map.The full text is divided into six chapters: The first chapter is the introduction.It mainly introduces the humanities historical geography and dialect of Dongguan City,the research status of Dongguan dialect and the research purpose,significance,the selection of survey points and material source of this paper.From the second chapter to the fourth chapter is the main part of this paper.It studies the specific differences of 54 vocabulary entries in Dongguan Cantonese dialect caused by geographical factors,and uses various research dialects to explore and resolve the causes of linguistic phenomena behind different vocabulary.The fifth chapter is based on previous chapters and then generalize the 54 vocabulary entries of Dongguan Cantonese dialect which are summarized into four types: interspersed,confrontation,confrontation and mainstream.Moreover,from the perspective of non-linguistic factors such as topography,economic traffic,cultural psychology,communication education,etc.,the reasons for the geographical distribution and development of the Cantonese dialect of Dongguan are discussed.Reference significance for studying the language contact and language development theory of Dongguan dialect.The sixth chapter is the conclusion.Summarize the discussion of this article and point out the shortcomings of this paper and the direction of future efforts.
