Historical Memory: A Study Of Old Photos Of Chongqing During The Anti-japanese War

As a storage medium,old photos have always been the carriers of memory symbols.Any profession,the domain all has belongs to own historical accumulation,its development can not leave for a long time the Cultural Foundation.However,with the change of time and space,historical memory and cultural memory may be forgotten,washed away,or even disappeared.Retention of memory is against forgetting,and the carrier against forgetting is the medium.Old Photographs are the most objective and true records of history.They are valuable and important historical materials for exploring the multi-dimensional aspects of a city.Paying attention to the historical memory of old photos can not only help us to examine the "struggle against oblivion",but also better understand the "now".Taking the old photos of Chongqing during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression from 1937 to 1949 as the research object,this paper records and discusses the construction of old photos in historical memory through historical events,city images and people’s life in the city,it examines the content of its subject matter,features and functions,the image of the expression and other aspects of the characters and various social forces.The first chapter studies the overall development of the old anti-japanese war photos,revealing its characteristics of the Times,social background,data sources.Analyze old photos to remember the past.The second chapter starts with the construction of its historical memory,Wakens the people’s memory of trauma and suffering in wartime from the aspects of space symbol and time plot.From the war scene records,the narrative,presents the Japanese bombing of the citizens of the panic of life and struggle against the fate of the indomitable character.The third chapter from the Chongqing City memory cut in,presents the war under the cover of the city,with a leisure perspective,to convey the delicate folk life.The Fourth Chapter Discusses how to express emotion,present cultural attitude and make the historical development more complete through words and vision.Finally,it shows the historical value of the old photos: to give the past facts a new meaning to the times,to show the optimistic and enterprising spirit of the people of Chongqing during the Anti-japanese War,and to bring influence and change to the whole city,for Contemporary people to learn from.To "another look back" to shape the memory of the war of resistance.
