As global warming worsens, extreme weather events have become frequent in recent years.Climate issue is widely concerned in global forums.Combating this threat and achieving sustainable development are imperative for the future of global citizens.Under such circumstance,a panel which is entitled Preparing for Climate Disruption from World Economic Forum in 2019 is selected as the material for this interpreting practice since it exactly discussed this issue and explored solutions from the perspective of governments, businesses and citizens. It’s highly relevant and worth practicing at such a critical moment. The report listed major difficulties in the interpreting process such as terminology, accent and fast-speed delivery.By exploring theories and authoritative literature,Gils’ s Effort Model is found helpful as the theoretical guidance to tackle these challenges. It provides a series of coping tactics including parroting, generalization and inference to resolve common difficulties. These are found applicable as well to this very practice.Specifically, transliteration and fuzzy interpreting can be adopted to address the difficulty of terminology.Generalization and omission can be applied to tackle accent problem.Generalization and inference can be employed to cope with fast-speed delivery.Last, the Evaluation Model of Interpreting Competence is applied in post-interpreting reflection to assess interpreting quality and conclude ways of improvement.
