| In March 2016,the UNESCO shows that the worldwide total trade in cultural products reached 212.8 billion dollars in 2013,almost twice as much as trade volume in2004.In the year of 2010,China was already the world’s largest exporter of cultural products. However, according to the data,it can be found that contrast to the major exporters of cultural products, the scale of China’s foreign trade in cultural products is still relatively small.According to statistics from the Ministry of Commerce, the total value of cultural trade in 2017 was only 97 billion dollars, accounting for 2.4% of the total trade of goods, reflecting that China’s cultural product trade lacks scale effect. At the same time, the development of new technologies and new media has made the division of cultural goods increasingly blurred, which has led to differences and doubts about the applicability of relevant agreements among people of different cultures, leading to more complex trade disputes. Therefore,in order to expand the share of China’s foreign cultural product trade in foreign trade.Meanwhile, reducing trade friction due to cultural distance from the theoretical level and seek cultural and economic benefits, especially at the background of the “Belt and Road”,the research in this paper will have both theoretical and practical significance.Based on the existing research, this article first uses the UN Comtrade database to analyze the current status of cultural product trade between China and the “Belt and Road”countries from 2008 to 2018.China’s trade in cultural products has surpluses.Second, the trade structure of China’s cultural products is unbalanced. The overall trade surplus mainly comes from the export of some core cultural products. The main trade of cultural products partner of China are OECD countries and Hong Kong,China.Secondly,in order to explore the impact of cultural distance on Chinese cultural product export trade, this article expands the trade gravity model based on the cultural dimension theory of Hofstede(2010),using data of cultural product exports examines the impact of the total cultural distance and its five dimensions between China and the sample countries on Chinese cultural product exports and their ternary margins. Finally,on the basic of theoretical analysis, this paper makes a robust estimation of panel data consisting of the ternary margin of cultural product trade between China and 42 sample countries and its influencing factors. As the entire variable, national cultural distance has a negative impact on China’s cultural products export, while as a combined variable, several of thesedimensions have a positive impact on the ternary margin of trade in cultural products. The main innovations of this article are: Firstly, the study of the Three Margins of cultural product trade between China and the “Belt and Road” countries is relatively new;Secondly, the research perspective is relatively new, establish the gravity model of China ’s foreign trade by using Hofstede’s national cultural dimension to study the influence of national cultural distance on the total export of Chinese cultural products and the Three Margins. |
