| In recent years,national curriculum in our country has been reformed unceasingly.For reform of education,teachers have always been the most critical factor to implement the reform.They are the main executors and participants.Therefore,the implementation of educational reform requires the promotion of teachers’ professional development.Teachers’ professional development can be reflected in classroom teaching.Open class is a common course form in classroom teaching.Open class means that teachers give lectures to certain groups in a planned way.The purpose of open class is to explore teaching rules and teaching method.Meanwhile,the open class can give teachers the opportunity to show their teaching skills and exchange teaching experience.Therefore,open classes have great significance to teachers’ professional development,and it is one of the important ways to enhance teachers’ professional development.The researcher takes middle school English teachers from various schools in Xinjiang as the research objects,and selected 138 middle school English teachers who had attended open class.The researcher employed interview,questionnaire as research instruments.The main purpose of the study is to explore three research questions: 1.What is the current situation of English open class in middle school? 2.Does open class have impact on English teachers’ professional development? If so,what are the specific factors? 3.What are the problems in the English open class in middle school? Through the analysis of questionnaire and interview,the research results are finally obtained.The results showed that: 1.Open class occupies an important proportion in teachers’ daily teaching,among which young teachers have the more opportunities to participate in open class.2.Open class has a positive impact on English teachers’ professional development.The specific factors included that English teachers’ teaching skills,self-confidence of English teachers,cooperative learning among English teachers,English teachers’ classroom management skills,English teachers’ consciousness of self-improvement.3.From the perspective of the teachers,there are some problems in English open class in middle school at present:teachers take form into account more than content;teachers are not highly motivated to attend open class;teachers are under high pressure when attend open class.According to above problems,the researcher also put forward some corresponding suggestions: From the perspective of the education departments,the evaluation system of open class can be diversified.From the perspective of schools,the form of organizing open class can be diversified.Schools should create more opportunities for teachers to attend open class.From the perspective of teachers,the teaching content of open class should be closer to the development level of students. |
