Group cooperative learning is a creative teaching strategy commonly adopted by many countries in the world.Because of its remarkable effect,it has been praised as a crucial and successful teaching innovation strategy in the past decade.In English teaching,"Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards"(2017 edition)put forward the views of "actively advocating learning methods of autonomy,cooperation and inquiry" and "students are the main body of learning and development".Listening and speaking teaching is an important part of junior high school English teaching in China,and it is also a relatively weak link in actual teaching.The application of group cooperative learning in junior high school English teaching helps to activate the active classroom atmosphere,improve the interaction between teachers and students,and help students To improve English listening and speaking,it is necessary to apply group cooperative learning to junior middle school English teaching.The purpose of this study is to explore the role of group cooperative learning in the teaching of listening and speaking in the second grade of English.The specific research questions include: 1.Can group cooperative learning improve students’ listening performance? 2.How does group cooperative learning affect students’ listening and speaking learning? Through the research of this article,we hope to provide a reference for the better use of group cooperative learning in junior middle school English teaching.Based on constructivism theory and demand hierarchy theory,the article selects the 02 and 03 classes of Shajing Middle School as the experimental class and control class respectively.After the pre-tests are conducted on the students of both classes,the experimental class students are implemented in groups.Cooperative teaching implements regular teaching for students in the control class,and then conducts post-testing for the students participating in the experiment,and statistically analyzes their listening performance to understand the effect of group cooperative teaching on students’ listening performance.In addition,this article also issued a questionnaire on the interest and effect of group cooperative teaching for students in experimental classes to understand the effect of group cooperative teaching on students’ interest in English listening and speaking.The study found that group cooperative learning can significantly improve the English listening performance of the second grade students,and through the group cooperative learning can increase the interest of the second grade students in English learning,prompting students to exercise their English listening and speaking ability more consciously.In view of the experimental results,this article has heard suggestions for improvement in junior middle school English listening and speaking teaching.In English listening teaching,teachers need to adopt different methods according to different teaching contents,and design different evaluation methods according to students’ learning characteristics and abilities.It is necessary to gradually cultivate and stimulate students’ curiosity,enhance students’ initiative awareness,and strive to improve autonomous cooperation and inquiry learning methods.In short,through the research in this article,it is concluded that group cooperative learning can improve the English listening performance and listening and speaking learning interest of the second grade students.When teachers use group cooperative learning to teach listening and speaking to the second grade students,they should also pay attention to local conditions.Teaching,strive to improve teaching methods,pay attention to reasonable grouping in the teaching process,and pay attention to the interaction in the teaching process to achieve better teaching results.
