In the early 19 th century,as long as enforcing the policy of "one-port-foreign",Guangzhou was at the development peak of political, economic and cultural.Under this, there were a batch of painters in Lingnan art, amid brothers Ju Chao and Ju Lian occupied an extremely important historical position in modern times, because their painting language had obviously regional characteristics. In previous studies, the interpretation towards their painting language just remained in the traditional literati painting evaluation system, that is,regarding it as their tracing of painting in the Song Dynasty,or interpreting its uniqueness as their personal experiences of the abundant resources and daily life. However, the above is scanty to fully explain the internal reasons of its "novelty".Thus,we are supposed to focus beyond traditional Chinese paintings and explore the different image resources they might receive. It must be admitted that this study takes advantage of the previous academic judgment,"the relationship between the brothers Ju Chao and Ju Lian’s painting language and the exported art",posed by some scholars.Based of it,the author tries to focus on the exported art of Guangzhou and mainly explores the correlation and interaction between such images and the brothers Ju Chao and Ju Lian’s painting after overall grasping the economy, culture and social life of Guangzhou in the 19 th century.Besides, this paper will discuss mainly with comparison and analysis of specific paintings.
