Chinese characters belong to the ideographic system of characters,square in shape,complex in shape,difficult to read,write and recognize,which has become a difficult point in the process of teaching and learning Chinese as a second language.The polyphonic characters in Chinese characters,such as polyphonic have become a major obstacle for learners to improve their Chinese proficiency.When learning a polyphonic word,learners are likely to mispronounce it or not know that it is a polyphonic word with more than one pronunciation.They may misunderstand the meaning of the polyphonic word,resulting in errors in listening comprehension,oral expression and written expression,which will affect the improvement of their Chinese proficiency.Moreover,mispronunciation of polyphonic words may cause contradictions between the two sides of communication.The teaching and learning of polyphonic characters can not only be separated from the guidance and reference of the teaching syllabus,but also from the teaching materials to provide specific teaching content basis.The application of Chinese course should be based on the general syllabus of international Chinese teaching.But,in fact,in the Chinese textbook(3rd edition)for teaching Chinese as a second language teaching process,teaching material of polyphone number neither corresponding grades of international curriculum for Chinese language teaching,the commonly used Chinese characters table requirement,can’t meet the communication needs of teaching high school students and the needs of the students through corresponding level of HSK examination.Therefore,in the actual teaching process,teachers can not completely rely on teaching materials,not only to choose,but also to supplement;We should not only introduce the definition of polyphonic characters,but also summarize the classification and rules of polyphonic characters.To adopt a variety of exercises,mechanical exercises and meaningful exercises combined,divided and stage teaching,to help students better learn and master polyphonic characters.The thesis is divided into seven chapters.The first chapter introduces the reason,content,method and purpose of the thesis.The second chapter introduces thedefinition,classification and rules of polyphone.From Chapter Three to Chapter Five,the multi-syllable characters in the textbook and outline are statistically analyzed.The sixth chapter carries on the questionnaire investigation and the analysis to the Chinese polysyllabic character teaching of the author practice school;The seventh chapter puts forward some suggestions on the teaching and learning of polysyllabic characters from the point of view of teachers and students.
