| With the rapid development of society and economy, tourism has become a good choice for quite a few people to relax. In recent years, car tourism as a new phenomenon has been welcomed by more and more people.Car tourism is a novelty in two ways:Firstly,it is a new phenomenon in science,as so far it has not been thoroughly studied or described;Secondly, some elements of car tourism have developed on a large scale in recent years, and the number of automotive-related tourism assets and products is very large. Therefore, the car tourism problem needs a more detailed introduction. This report takes E-C translation of Car Tourism(Chapter 1 and 3)as a foundation. The source text presents the importance of cars and the spaces connected with their production, use and exhibition for tourism development. The source text can be classified as the informative text in the light of Newmark’s text typology theory. The informative text focuses on the content rather than form. The target text of an informative text should be concise and accurate,so as to represent objects or facts of the source text.In order to make the target text more accurate, the translator has to pay much more attention to the translation of abbreviations and place names in lexical level;while for the fluency of sentences, the translator used the method of translating the passive structure into active structure and the method of keeping the passive structure in syntactic level. As for the long and complicated sentences, methods of sequencing, reversing and division were used.Meanwhile, the translator used conjunctions to guarantee the coherence of translation in the discourse level. This report consists of four chapters.Chapter one makes an introduction to the source text, including information, task features and task significance.Chapter two describes the translation process, including preparation before translation, the translation procedure and the quality control.Chapter three is the case analysis, which discusses the translation methods and strategies of selected text at the lexical, syntactic and discourse level. It analyzes how the text typology theory is integrated into the practice of translation through examples.Chapter four shares reflections and experience learned from the translation and problems to be solved. |
