In recent years, with the rapid development of globalization and cross-cultural communication, people’s choice of tourist destinations has gone beyond the home country and the number of people traveling abroad for vacation is gradually increasing every year.In this age of the Internet,we enjoy the incessant flow and changes of information.Taking advantage of the unique, convenient and efficient Internet, people can learn about tourist attractions around the world,as well as some information about sceneries, hotels, shopping and other related information of tourist destinations without leaving home. And hence the demand for translation of foreign tourism web pages is increasing. The translation of tourism web pages can provide people information about the various cultures of each country, thus opening up their eyes and helping to form a world view.Tourism texts have received more and more attention from translation scholars. However, the studies on Chinese translation of foreign tourism texts in China is still in the initial stage, and the specific translation practice lacks systematic theoretical support and methodological skills, which needs to be further explored by translators. This report is based on the English-Chinese translation of tourism texts from the official website of Queenstown,New Zealand. It consists of five parts.Chapter One introduces the background of the translation practice, its main contents, the structure of the report and its significance.Chapter Two describes the author’ s preparation before the translation, the analysis of the features of the source text,as well as the stylistic comparison of both Chinese and English languages and the reference texts and translation tools.Chapter Three examines the theories for text analysis theory and cross-cultural communication theory,as well as the application of the theories to the translation of tourism information on websites.Chapter Four explains how to combine informative texts and cross-cultural communication to solve the translation problems encountered through specific case studies.Chapter Five is the conclusion of the report. This report shows that translation is cross-cultural communication. In translating tourism materials, the translator should have a strong sense of communication across cultures. It is also hoped that this translation practice can be of some reference value for the translation practice of other tourism texts.
