A Report On C-E Translation Of The Introduction To Zaozhuang City

This paper is a report on the practice of C-E translation.The source text comes from a translation task of the Global Tone Communication Technology Co.,Ltd..The source text systematically introduces the comprehensive situation of Zaozhuang City with accurate data,covering administrative region,natural conditions,economic profile,social development,historical events and infrastructure construction.In view of the characteristics and the content of the source text,the author chooses Reiss’s text typology as the theoretical basis to instruct and standardize the whole process of this translation practice,with the aim to deal with the problems encountered in the process of translation practice and to help solve similar problems in the same text type.This paper first describes the translation task and the translation process in detail.Then Reiss’s text typology is introduced as the theoretical basis for this translation practice.According to text typology,texts can be divided into informative texts,expressive texts and operative texts on the basis of different language functions.Translators should adapt different translation strategies in accordance with different text types.By analyzing the language function and language features of the source text,the author believes that the source text belongs to the typical informative text.Text typology advocates that the focus of translating informative texts is the thoroughness of information transmission.The translation of informative texts should be oriented by the target language,reproduce the information of the source text accurately and completely in straightforward and understandable language,and give explicit explanation about the original information when it is necessary.Therefore,the author uses a variety of translation techniques and methods to solve and analyze the specific problems in the translation of source text from the lexical,syntactic and textual level under the guidance of text typology,so as to ensure the effect of information transmission in the translation of informative text.Finally,the author summarizes the difficulties and enlightenment in this translation practice.
