| As people’s literacy and living standard improved,tourism has now developed into cultural tourism.Since English is an international language,the English version of Chinese tourism resources serves as an important way to spread Chinese culture and to practice cultural confidence.In order to spread Chinese culture,tell its stories in a better way,and further develop its tourism,it is essential to improve the quality of the English translation of tourism texts.This paper studies the syntactic differences between Chinese and English tourism texts,which mainly include:English emphasizes hypotaxis and strict structure,thus it tends to form long sentences by using clauses,while Chinese stresses parataxis,therefore it tends to form short sentences by using sub-clauses;English often uses passive voice,while Chinese,active voice;English highlights changes and avoids repetitions,while Chinese often uses repetition.According to these differences,this paper then summarizes that the syntactic difficulties in the translation of tourism texts are parataxis short sentences and long sentences with several subjects,and puts forwards the addressing methods of division and synthesization respectively.Finally,this paper studies some cases to analyze the techniques and steps of these two methods. |
