| Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1992,Korea and China have maintained strong relations in various fields,including politics,economy,and culture.International status of China has also increased gradually,raising the importance of Chinese to almost equal level with English.As a result,not only in the schools or university but also many private institutions are providing Chinese language education in Korea.If anyone wants to learn Chinese,it’s very easy to learn Chinese through various textbooks and institutions.The number of Chinese learners in Korea is increasing day by day.Under these circumstances,the ways to learn Chinese also becoming increasingly diverse.Unlike lifelong education centers in the universities and private Chinese language institutes,Confucius Institute is an institution which are the Chinese Ministry of Education established for the local people of the countries.This thesis aims to understand the current situation of Chinese language education at “A University” Confucius Institute,which is a national university close to Seoul.Through this,many Chinese learners understand the difference between Confucius Institute and other institutions.It would helpful for students to get good quality Chinese language education at Confucius Institute and understand Chinese and Chinese culture correctly.In addition,Confucius Institute will help develop into a higher-quality Chinese language education institution.I also hope that this thesis will help Confucius Institute develop into a higher-quality Chinese language education institution.This study aims to diagnose the actual learning situation of Confucius Institute through the current status survey of Confucius Institute of Korea National A University,and gives some solutions for the process.For this purpose,this thesis organized as five parts.The introduction revealed the reasons for the topic selection and its significance.And I presented some methods of the study and review the preceding study.Chapter 1 points out the basic circumstances of Chinese language education at the Confucius Institute in Korea.The current status of the establishment of Confucius Institute in Korea,major activities,and overall status of Chinese language education were investigated.Chapter 2 provides a brief introduction which is before the researching of the current status of Confucius Institute at Korea National A University.In the current status survey,the status of Confucius Institute at Korea National A University was conducted in five areas:learner,teacher education,course design,resource of the teaching institute,and the management.Of school affairs In addition,I tried to show the meaning of the purpose of cultural activities in this institution.Chapter 3 identified and analyzed problems in each survey section based on the current status survey in Chapter 2.Based on surveys and interviews,various responses were combined to diagnose problems.Based on the analysis of Chapter 3,Chapter 4 I made some suggestions for the Confucius Institutes,they are about text books and teaching equipment,teacher education,teaching methods in the class,In particular,in the field of student learning,I proposed a method that motivates learners by Keller’s ARCS-motivated model to present a practical course of class design.In the conclusion,the aforementioned research contents,teaching methods,and suggestions were summarized.This analysis of the status of individual Confucius institutes provides an indication of what is applicable to,or should be taken in the individual Confucius institution. |
