A Study On The Marriage Disputes In Fengtian In The Early Republic Of China

During the period of the Republic of China,social customs changed rapidly,and all kinds of thoughts flowed.With the planting and development of Western Enlightenment in China,it effectively promoted the transformation and rebirth of Chinese traditional culture in modern times,and made obvious changes in the traditional life concept and behavior mode of Chinese people.Under the background of this era,marriage,as one of the important factors determining family happiness and social harmony,is also widely concerned,especially the discussion of marriage disputes.This paper takes it as the research object,with the purpose of peeping at the tip of the iceberg of people’s daily life changes.Generally speaking,the contents of marriage disputes are very complicated,including both marriage disputes and divorce disputes,involving not only economic compensation and social identity,but also legal evolution and intergenerational conflict.Although there have been a lot of discussions on it in academic circles,most of them only focus on one point and lack of overall description of marital disputes.This paper systematically analyzes the root causes of large-scale marriage disputes in the early Republic of China,the types of disputes,the ways to deal with them and the impact of disputes.It is obvious that with the evolution of marriage concept in modern China and the reform of marriage legislation system after the founding of the Republic of China,both women who are in a weak position in the traditional marriage mode and men who are in a strong position have changed their views on marriage life.Although there are still many people who dare not break the shackles of traditional marriage,they are still imperceptibly influenced by this gradually changing concept of marriage and the new marriage of people around them.With the emergence and settlement of disputes,people’s marriage quality is advancing slowly in twists and turns.Although it failed to achieve the purpose of thoroughly eliminating the bad customs of marriage,it also laid the foundation for the spread of advanced culture and the continuation of civilized race.
