A Study On The Historical Narration Of The Texts Of "Gou Jian Exterminating Wu" In The Pre Qin And Han Dynasties

During the pre Qin and Han Dynasties,there were many texts(or versions)in the historical expression with the theme of "Gou Jian exterminating Wu",which formed the phenomenon of "story group".The academic research on the related literature of "Gou Jian exterminating Wu" mainly focuses on historical facts,literature,folk custom and so on,while the narrative research on this kind of historical expression is relatively lacking.Taking the historical narrative of "Gou Jian exterminating Wu" as the research object,this paper explores the characteristics and similarities and differences of historical writing in different texts.First,the overall narrative framework of different texts is consistent,with the defeat of Gou Jian and the success of Wu as the starting point,the content of Gou Jian’s hard work as the middle part,and the defeat of Wu as the ending,which shows that different texts take the basic historical development process as the narrative framework,reflecting the objectivity of historical writing.Second,the narrative plots of different texts are diverse.Even the texts with similar narrative plots often have many differences in narrative details,which to some extent reflects the subjectivity of historical writing.Thirdly,comparing the different texts of "Gou Jian exterminating Wu",there are many traces of copying,synonymous substitution and adaptation,which shows that the writing process of different texts contains the common use and inheritance of historical materials.Comparatively speaking,there are many "public historical materials" in different texts of the pre Qin period,while the texts of the Han Dynasty are mostly composed of early texts,which are obviously inherited from the early texts.Fourthly,different texts have different narrative plots,which reflects the tendency of storytelling in the process of historical narration and writing.The story is embodied in the story of characters,the story of specific details and the history of the story.Because of the differences in the expression of story telling,the degree of story telling varies.Finally,the basic reason for the story telling of historical narration and writing lies in the rich explanatory tendency of the author in narration and writing.The narratives of different texts on the historical process of Gou Jian’s extermination of Wu reflect different interpretation tendencies.The narratives of the related history of Gou Jian and Fan Li in Shiji · yueshijia reflect Sima Qian’s complex appraisal tendency.The related narratives in Wuyue Chunqiu and yuejueshu form a set of causal narrative logic of "Gou Jian exterminates Wu".Through the historical narrative research of the texts of "Gou Jian exterminating Wu" in the pre Qin and Han Dynasties,we can better understand the generation of historical texts and the subjective and objective characteristics of historical writing.
