In the Southern Song Dynasty,Yongjia school once had a tripartite confrontation trend with Zhu Xi’s Neo Confucianism and Lu Jiuyuan’s mind theory but then went down.In the late Qing Dynasty,for revive Yongjia school,represented by sun Yiyan,sunqiang Ming,sunyi Jean,Chenqiu,Songshu and chenfu Chen,inherited Wenzhou historical and cultural traditions,borrowed Chinese and foreign ideological resources.With the efforts of sun Yiyan,sunqiang Ming,sunyi Jean,Chenqiu,Songshu and chenfu Chen,and others,in the late 19 th century,the context of Yongjia school’s rising in the late Qing Dynasty,which focused on highlighting the contribution of sun Yiyan,sunqiang Ming began to be constructed.In the period of the Republic of China,the revival of Yongjia school was still a strong demand of Wenzhou scholars.Therefore,Wenzhou scholars represented by Linsun and chenmi inherited and developed this context,and constructed the image of “Dongou three men” as the successor of Yongjia school after sun Yiy and sunqiang Ming.Combined with the life and works of “Dongou three men”,we can see that as an outstanding figures in Wenzhou area in modern times,they enriched the practice and spiritual connotation of Yongjia school in the late Qing Dynasty.In the tide of saving the nation from subjugation and striving for survival in modern times,they determined to revive Yongjia school.They not only practiced the ancient precepts of Yongjia school personally,but also innovated the academic content of Yongjia school.In particular,their reform ideas reflected the distinct spirit of Yongjia school.Therefore,"Dongou three men" realized the creative transformation and innovative development of Yongjia school spirit in the late Qing Dynasty,and became the source of confidence for Wenzhou scholars to revive Yongjia school in the period of the Republic of China.Their Yongjia school spirit and practice are valuable ideological resources for Wenzhou and China’s reform and opening up and cultural construction,which still has important practical significance.
