Calligraphy is the quintessence of C hina and a window for foreign students to understand Chinese culture. However, there are few studies on the teaching of calligraphy for foreign students, and there are only a handful of classroom designs for the teaching of foreign students. This paper hopes to understand the current situation of foreign students’ calligraphy learning from the perspective of empirical research and quantitative analysis, and on the basis of this, design corresponding teaching courses and sample classes, which provides a certain reference for foreign students’ calligraphy teaching. This thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter introduces the research background, research significance and research status of this paper, and clarifies the research ideas and research methods. This paper mainly collects the current calligraphy learning data of foreign students through questionnaire survey.Through descriptive statistical analysis and correlation research analysis of the data, the paper learns about the study of foreign students’ calligraphy and provides the basis for the subsequent curriculum design. The second chapter conducts a questionnaire survey on the current situation of foreign students’ calligraphy learning, and conducts statistics and analysis on the questionnaire.Through the frequency statistics of the data, the number of students studying Chinese calligraphy is slightly dominant, and the interest category is the main purpose. However, foreign students who have not studied Chinese calligraphy have a strong willingness to learn calligraphy and can therefore be guided. At present, foreign students have higher enthusiasm in calligraphy class and a more correct attitude towards calligraphy learning. The design of calligraphy class should be based on the cultivation and improvement of students’ interest in calligraphy learning. The third chapter introduces the curriculum from the aspects of teaching objects, teaching conditions, teaching objectives, teaching principles, teaching methods, teaching time, teaching content and teaching evaluation. The fourth chapter combines its own calligraphy teaching experience and questionnaire survey results to design a specific sample class. The last chapter summarizes the article and clarifies the research strengths and weaknesses of this paper.
