| With the further deepening of the internationalization of the world,as well as the gradual enhancement of China’s national strength and the rise of its international status,the importance of English in daily work,learning and life has become increasingly prominent,which puts higher demands and standards for middle school students’ English education and learning.English educators have been working hard to explore and try various teaching methods to improve the efficiency of English learning.Inquiry-based learning,as an important learning method that enables students to actively acquire knowledge,apply knowledge and solve problems from inquiry,has also been included in China’s English Curriculum Standards for General High Schools.The thought origin of inquiry learning can be traced back to the beginning of the 20th century and the earliest advocate and experiment inquiry learning person should go to Dewey,who pointed out that for science,what students should master is not only knowledge,but also the process and methods.In teaching,students should construct knowledge independently through exploration on the basis of their existing interest and experience,so as to improve their problem-solving ability and become a real learner.Based on the theories of "constructivism" and "discovery learning" proposed by Bruner and other educational psychologists,this study uses the method of comparative teaching experiment to demonstrate the feasibility of inquiry-based learning in high school English classroom teaching.This research mainly focuses on the following two issues:Research Question 1:What is the influence of inquiry-based learning on students’English learning level and ability?Research Question 2:What effect does inquiry-based learning have on students’interest in learning English?This research is conducted mainly from the following perspectives:the teaching and learning mode,the design of the learning paper,classroom teaching practice under the guidance of inquiry-based learning and students’after-class development,to further research how inquiry-based learning influences the English teaching in high school.The research will last for one semester and the objects of study are 80 students from Senior 1,Ankang,Shaanxi province.In this study,literature method,classroom observation method,interview method and other research methods will be adopted to explore the important role of exploratory learning in high school English teaching through the observation of classroom teaching effect,the data analysis of students’ academic performance and the questionnaire survey of students’ learning interest.Research results show that the inquiry-based learning as the main target of classroom teaching mode in the English class effect is very prominent:the student’s grades have improved obviously,and through the investigation and the actual observation it is found that inquiry-based learning can effectively improve students’English learning interest,stimulate students’ subjective initiative,and the students’ ability to explore and knowledge level has larger ascension,and teachers’ professional level can be improved to a certain extent and also obtained the further extension. |
